You are definitely right about the respect and discipline, but you can attribute that to about 1,000 other things before learning of the teachings of god makes that list. Parenting is my #1. Without getting into a huge discussion or change of subjects.......what I see is the more uneducated, lazy, unfit to be parents, use the system types, are reproducing at much greater rate then the people that are actually fit to be parents. It's causing a huge problem with how a lot of kids ar ebing raised and also economy issues as well. Different story though for a different time.

You will waste your time trying to convince a Christian to get off his faith or beliefs.
History will eventually disprove Christianity, and it will fade away as easily as Mithra did.
But we Christians are not wasting our time trying to convince a non-believer to get off his faithlessness or non-beliefs, for at this very moment there are literally thousands upon new Christians entering the faith daily.
There has been a recent surge in 'membership' in parts of the West, and in the East the numbers who are becoming new Christians daily is astronomical.
There are estimated now nearly 100 million Christians in China (compared with just 5,000 in the 1960s) and in South Korea, churches regularly have tens of thousands of members each. In one church, the Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, there are over 800,000 members who meet each Sunday in several sittings in a vast hall.
So, while it is difficult to give a definite answer to the actual number of Christians in the world (estimates range from 2 - 3 billion), Christianity remains the most dominant of the world, and is still growing at an astonishing rate.
So no, Christianiy will not fade away easily, quite the contrary, it is here to stay and is still growing at an astonishing rate.

I'm glad you mention "it's all a game" because I have had many discussions with some religious friends and even a pastor at one point because I have SO many questions about things. One thing I came away with speaking with them and reading posts from religious people is it is like a big game to Jesus. Person A can do this and that and believe and you go to heaven. Yet, person B even though they may treat others better and actually be a better person.....will go to hell if they don't exactly believe. I have gotten to know over my lifetime a great number of people religious and not religious and some of my best friends are religious, so I want to be clear that I know there are exceptions, but as a whole I have found the majority of the religious people to be the most arrogant, self serving, judgemental, condescending, attention seeking, rude and just plain creepy at times group of people. My wifes side of the family are extremely religious and they are some of the biggest liars I have ever witnessed. I have witnessed rudeness to others and myself from church goers when I was younger waiting tables ALL the time. I have SO many stories about things that relate to these so called church going poeple it's not even funny. That's not even getting into all the sick stuff on tv and read about involving priests, pastors, etc. Again, I don't feel that way at all about all religious people and believe me.....I know there are bad people that aren't religious, but in my lifetime it isn't even close to who the nicer, generous and just more genuine people are. All I know is I will live my life in a way I see fit and treat others how I would want to be treated. No god of mine would play games to decide who burns in hell for eternity or who gets to go to heaven.
This is total Bull. Not your story, but your portrayal of christian people. Rude, arrogant, lying, self serving, selfish, etc. All BULLSHIT!
Now your wife's family might be like this but please don't use them to generate this idea that a born again christian acts this way, especially put it out on forums like this is what people should expect from christians.
As far as the "priests" that is not our religion. Try Catholicism and that church has awful problems going on. The personality of a true ideal born again christian would be along the lines Ned Flanders. I understand that is only a cartoon character but it is no doubt what resembles many personalities of a true born again christian. The key word Muffin "born again."
Your family are just christians that are serving themselves and hoping they do enough to go to Heaven and they will be in for a rude awakening if they act as you say. My dad has been referred numerous times to being like flanders from his secular buddies. Now I'm sure to you flanders is a geek and yes he is dorky but I'm mainly charcterizing his personality. I've been a christian since teenage years and have played D-1 ball in your country, partyed, in a frat house, served my country for two terms in afghan, go to concerts like (Tool, Oasis, RHCP, Foo's), play sports and poker, involved in Ti-cats with my dad (Pro CFL team here) and work in a very successful secular ad firm in Toronto with racy ads. Now I feel I'm pretty cool and not your typical dorky christian but all my traits are much like flanders and I would vouch that any TRUE BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN is like this. I'm sry your wife's family is like this because it is unfortunate but know this, they are no better off just because they go to church then any normal secular person if they aren't following the truth.

So, let me get this straight.....your answer is in a nutshell.......it doesn't matter that there isn't any evidence because people wouldn't believe it anyway?? I mean....I'm not trying to stop you from believing whatever you want to believe, but seriously....think about it and open your mind to that question. Does it even make a bit of sense?
Yes, in my view it makes perfect sense. Besides how would all these evidences be preserved through several thousands of years? Who would be in charge through the centuries to keep them safe and guarded at all times?
Jesus Christ our Savior didn't leave any physical evidence of Himself like bones behind...remember He resurrected from the dead. The only one strong piece of evidence that has survived through over 3,450 years has been the Holy Bible.
It is a whole lot easier just preserving the one and only strongest piece of evidence we have. The Holy Bible is a book coming from God. Through inspiration He is the author. Now I want you to pick up a Bible and start reading it from the very beginning.

Over the course or history, God is one of the leading causes of DEATH. (FACT)
Yes by stupid people using god as their scapegoat. Hitler? Yeah, he was an awesome christian. Osama? Great Muslim, etc. Bad argument KittyKATZ. You're right but at the same time these are not true christians/other religous people and the unfortunate part is that the true christians are out on the fields fighting these wars.

I like it Muff and it is true and it starts with the parents. I'm not going to sit here and say because these parents raised their kids with god the kids turned out better but on a whole grand scheme of things, our parents that were brought up in this christian style taught us a big difference then the kids are being taught today. At the least you can admit that the good teachings of the bible did something for past generations of Canada and America that made them much less violent and more respectable.

Just look at the rundown of many of the 10 commandments. We as a society would be better off whether or not we believe in god but followed these. So go back a few generations ago say our grandparent and parents where the christian bible was taught more and look at the difference. in no particular order
1. Respect your parents (how many kids now will tell there parent to the face to fuck off) just disgusting
2. Don't kill. Pretty simple and wow just take a look at your (USA) murder rates. That is flat out disgusting!!
3. Don't steal. B and E's everyday, cars getting jacked, kids stealing form locker rooms. These happened but at the tenth of today.
4. Adultery. What are we up to today in divorce rate? 50%? Just sick and you know who gets fucked up the most? kids. So lets see how this goes...Adultery/Give upon Marriage=single parents=troubled or misgiuded kids=no proper influence=crime committed by kids=more violence and a parasite to the society.
Now obviously I'm stereotyping the single parent kid and heck more then half my friends are great people and from single parent families but you know the deal and how it goes and even more so in the black communities.
5. Don't lie. Another short respect thing. Humans have zero respect for each other today and will lie for just about anything.
So used just a couple basic ones to see that even though God might now be the answer at least his teachings very of great use until we now don't look at them.

Are you now acknowledging that God exist? You are not being consistent kk, I mean if you don't believe in God what prompts you to make a statement like that?
I believe in God but I would never say He is the leading cause of death but rather I would say that sin is the leading cause of death. For we are all sinners and the wages of sin is death.
You are definitely confused here.
THE CONCEPT OF GOD.

You said, "Over the course or history, God is one of the leading causes of DEATH. (FACT)
How can you say a concept of something leads to a fact?...that doesn't make sense...lol Furthermore it is an opinion you stated and opinions are not facts.
Over the course or history, who or what is one of the leading causes of death with the concept that God doesn't exist? And would this also be a fact?...lol

Sorry system, that article is cool but not relevant. It classes the USA as religious country would it not? Fact is, you guys are one of the most atheist countries going. The wars, media, vilolence. Sure I guess all the gang related violence you have is because your country is too religious. Come on man. Canada has tons of religion up here but you don't see us doing this crap or starting foreign wars.

There you go again, when I corner you with a question you can't answer you come out with the insults...hihihihihi!
You still haven't given me any evidence that God doesn't exist...I'm still waiting very patiently.
I have given you evidence. You just keep saying "you haven't given me evidence" every few days after you conveniently forget about the evidence. But in reality, I don't need to provide evidence. If you wake up, live a day, and go to sleep, you've already been provided with a TON of evidence.

You are by far one of the most ignorant and stupid people on this forum.
How many times do you have to be told ATHEIST are the bigget mass murders in human history?Nothing else comes close. Are you really that stupid?
ONE OF...NOT THE ONLY ONE. Your ignorance is astounding. You just interpret words as you see fit. Do you even know how to read objectively anymore? Or do you only see what you wanna see?

This is such a convenient response.....think about it. How in the world does this make any sense?? Why would he not try to convince people that he is who he is? Is he just playing a big game and if it turns out you don't believe then you are going to hell? Does that REALLY sound like something this "all loving" god would do? Personally, I will use common sense and say no.
Convenient? That's the whole point of Christianity? That Christ would die and be a ransom for our sins. If Jesus was accepted by all, and did not die, He could not possibly be a "Christ". That's exactly what Christianity is all about. It was imperative that He was not accepted. That's what the prophecies all teach, that;s exactly what Jesus said Himself, and that's exactly what Christianity relies upon.
If Christ was not crucified, there would be no salvation.
Or are you willing to prove that Christ would have been crucified if all people accepted Him? And then you'd have to prove, under Christian coherency, why Christ would come at a time of the most wicked generation of person until then.
I do not appreciate anti-intellectualism. If you don't know much about Christianity, please allow for someone who does to teach on the matter. Lest you begin to preach falsities to the posters here, spreading not only ignorance but erroneous knowledge.
BTW, KittyKatz, I'm still waiting for you to respond to post #966, so we can continue our discussion. It seems that the civility of this thread is wavering if we do not continue.

Again, E-Muffin, here are more examples of Christianity, if you still are not persuaded that this is what Christianity is about (the sacrifice of the Christ):
Romans 9:30-33 NKJV 30 What shall we say
then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to
righteousness, even the righteousness of faith; 31 but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness.[n]32 Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law.[o] For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. 33 As it is written:
“ Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, Andwhoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

If you don't want to give the Bible any special precedence then that's fine. Treat it, at least, as any other secular historical documents found from around those times. Nonetheless, it isn't the Scriptures that is important, but the message behind them. Luckily, Christianity is not Bible-worship (as some idolatrous Christians love to do), but as Jesus Himself said, "the [Scriptures] are talking about me". Worship of the book over reality itself is part of the reasons why the Pharisees, who were very religious, were rejected by God.
Instead of focusing on the Bible as 'evidence' let's look at it only as a collection of Law, Prophecy, History, Poems, Proverbs, Songs, News, Doctrine, Letters and Allusion written by various people from paupers to kings over the course of a thousand years, collected and manifested into a single volume used as a convenient source of literature concerning a common message.
With that in mind, we can examine any part of the Scriptures that trouble you, or anything, while not rejecting the work as a whole because of a single sentence or two is disagreeable with you. Hopefully you'll find that approach much more rational. And, because the Scriptures are, in fact, coherent (at least in the common message portrayed) you'll find the initial disagreement to be more of a misconception than anything.
I don't expect to force you to read this entire post, it is pretty long, however it is good for you to read it all, as each paragraph has good information. If you are pressed for time, you can start reading from here.
I suppose the best way to begin however is how Genesis began, not with any arguments for the existence of God, but a plain display of the nature of mankind, and it's overall fate. In that way, we can start with a few points:
Everybody, being repercussions of "Adam" (or, if you reject the term "Adam", just note that we are naturally copies of the same type of entity, Humans), are innately sinful -- our volition is naturally out of sync with "God" (if you reject the term "God", then just replace the word, Perfection).
Everybody has sinned (does something wrong).
No one lives forever. Even this Universe, which is vast and grand, is poised to either expand into oblivion, or re-collapse into singularity. Ultimately, there is nothing for us but death in the end.
A piece of Scripture to keep in mind, Genesis 3:19 NKJV
19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”
This is, of course, just the beginning. There is much more than this 'gloom and doom' of course. Else reality would be a very depressing place! Anyway, if you're with me, say so. If there's something confusing or something wrong with what I said, just let me know and we can go over it. Just don't ignore it, as that would be dishonest of you.
Sorry...I got distracted by the ignorant...Anyway...First question and I'll leave it at this for now: At the very beginning, there was the big bang. How do the scriptures reconcile this with the whole "god created adam" thing? I feel like you tried to explain it here, but in a very preliminary way.

I have to disagree, it is relevant. Are the leaders that are starting these wars religious?...I would bet that most gang members are religious too...
