mafioso, where in Calif do you live? I have lived in the San Gabriel Valley as well as Sacramento, before moving to Vegas.
And yes, you are in my fantasy groupie league. And I dare anybody to show me a set of groupies better than the ones I have.

Ad1260, after saying that, I'll try to go on with my day, don't know if I can make it.
Mafioso, isn't the restaurant business in bad shape over all?

Great thread...I know the biz myself 40 yrs in kitchens..and getting paid for it..I don't do restaurants in Vegas/AC but alway the coffee counters/food courts etc. That is where I'll throw .45 cents in the jar and it's appreciated.
I would never do that to a coctail waitress..actualy cost me $ recently at the Borgata, playing Sic-Bo..saved a dollar for the CW tip and the trips came out..had no cash on me and was playing it every roll...just shook it off and leave the table but no-one is gonna call me a douche behind my back...
And I just got back from LV after a week (one night not comped at the Gold Coast-$3.00 resort fee..you want to see BS fees try AC.. Vegas is nothing.Besides taxes,NJ tourism fees etc.lol
One morning a couple years ago.I'm sitting at the sportsbook bar at the Rio..Big dude comes up and orders a Cherry Coke...I'm probably half-lit by then and the Jersey in me wants to crack a joke about this kinda drink..Figured something a lot harder..think he threw the bartender a couple bucks for a freakin soda.My senses came to me though..
But we got talking and the big guy turned me onto this site..ha thanks Mafioso for a bunch of wasted hours but good past trip reports non-lv...crazy shit
My retirement plan is to move to NV and try to supplement my SS,but it will not playing at higher end props with poorer odds and servers expecting larger tips..
If I was unemplyed I'd be hanging at the Gold Coast all day and eating $1.50 hot dogs and a $.50 tip..
Curious though Promark where do you live in Vegas and why are you playing in more touristy props. You have comps somewhere?

When somebody goes to a restaurant or gets into a cab (me included) 99% of us will tip accordingly if the service is just adequaate. Now let's say the cab driver is friendly, informative and gives me some good advice, he or she will get extra.
When people are in Vegas casinos, there will be times when gambling where having the proper amount for a tip gets overlooked. I've seen somebody betting black chips ($100) at a blackjack game not tip because they have no little chips.
For those of you who have never played slots, they can be mezmerizing. You get into a different focus and you tend to tune out other things.
I have been labled a regular 45-cent tipper, yet in my first post, I claimed I "ONLY" had 45 cents in my pocket. You all jumped to conclusions, I can't help that.
If I was waiting for a cab, I'd make sure that I break down a $20 down to 5 ones, one five and a ten before I get into a cab.
But gamblers occasionaly, as I did, forget about the service. It's not intentionally.

Very few people are successful and make a good living without hard work and some luck. The challenge is to monetize that drive into the thing that you REALLY want, and would do if you could. If you even truly know what that is. Painting, surfing, gardening, sports investing, whatever. It's been said before but bears repeating, "Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life".
I've been lucky enough to have had businesses in many different fields, some very successful, some flops. The successful ones were sold because I just didn't want to do it anymore. At first the money/success addiction drives everything. Then once that gets old, now it becomes work. Everyday, every hour trying to fix something, make it better, etc. etc. At that point it becomes time to move on to the next chapter. I commend people who can work the same job for 30 years but I need new challenges and I'm realizing that there are really two scorecards we need to look at. The first one is financial but the second and more important one is the personal/family one.
Success truly depends on high marks for both of these. If you could only have one, which would you take? I like most people chose money. Now I think a little differently.

Without a doubt, one of the greatest Americans to ever live was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Why? Because he tried to end the injustice of racial segrgation and racism in America. AND HE TRIED TO DO IT PEACEFULLY! Despite grenades being thrown at me, I have answered the accusations in a respectful manner, without using cuss words or words like douchebag.
And it's odd that so many of you defend the service industry, yet by your behavior and speech, you wouldn't get a tip out of me. Period.
PS. Here are nine of the bravest American kids ever. I wish I was one of them, because thre would have been a fight that day:

Vegas, I don't quite understand what happened in paragraph one. But in paragraph two, even if it was prompt service, service people shouldn't solicit a tip. Like I said before, gambling is different that going out to dinner. You may have won that 5k bet but still be down 10k for the day. Anybody who works in the gambling indurstry SHOULD know this and take it into consideration. What the manager or pit boss said in paragraph three would make me get my players card, shred it and then put it in her hand.
