Got off to a good start yesterday with Garcia and lasix combo in the second and a nice pick by NumberPower in the third so why not try it again. Playing #3 My Lady Olivia in the second at the Spa. ML at 6-1.
Good luck to everyone. |

You may be right, but having gone 17 of the last 18 years, they could basically run pigs and turtles and still pack-in 50,000 in the 75-degree, sunny weather and ocean breezes we've got here today! |

this feeble card can only mean bad things for the upcoming meet.

NFL...how did you come to love it? For me and everyone i know it revolves around having wining days and weekends and meets. This game is about gambling and the industry neds to embrace that fact. Ive corrupted 8 guys all on my own and now all our vacations revolve around the races, and the hook is "gambling"....not the ability of 1 or 2 great horses who destroy a small field and pay $3.20....its chasing "THE SCORES".

Im not talking about 1 million dollar scores, but show people taking down realistic $1000 and $2000 scores on realitively small bets is the way to hook new fans. Then teach them how its done.
Number,
I agree that big scores does add some appeal but the only time we get REAL interest in racing is when we have a super horse. Otherwise it is just the TC and BC day. A few years back a 2 dollar superfecta paid 1.8 million on derby day and few people noticed. We do not see bigger scores then that even once a decade.
That is why I am against handicap races, if we pack enough wait on a champion he/she can become just another top contender. That is the worst thing for horseracing in my opinion |

Show them that real people take down a "score" and show them and teach them how its done and maybe you capture that person as a fan of the game.
The first post talked about attracting new fans. Racing needs star horses to attract mainstream attention. It's a tough spot, because owners stand to make alot more money retiring great horses to stud than they do in running them. Hopefully we'll get to see Rachel vs. Zenyatta. That'll offer a boost. |

He has between 50 and 100 horses (not a big operation at all). Most of them are at Philly Park, where he does most of his running, but he also runs at Monmouth, Meadowlands, NY tracks, even as far as Mountaineer and Laurel. One time a track official found cocaine in one of his feed buckets, and he had a hearing and was facing a suspension. It was at some track that he doesn't go to, but sends his people to when he runs there (I think it was Laurel, if I remember). The point of mentioning this is that my friend has a relatively small number of horses and he can't control everything that goes on. For guys like Asmussen, Pletcher, Lake, etc. it is an impossible task. [/Quote Monmouth Park is fast approaching the lofty status of such tracks as Mountaineer and Delaware Park as havens for cheaters. If you play there you better have a good handle on the move-up guys, not to mention how the pools get distorted after the gates open...solid 3-1 shots are 8/5 before the turn. As far as the super trainers, they better have a good people working for them as they obviously cant be at every operation every day for every race. |

nobody hates the pharmacy boys more than me and anyone playing monmouth park needs to have their heads checked, but there is just no way that guys like this, that have the number of operations running that he does, can possibly stay on top of what is given to his horses.he certainly bares responsibility for it, but i know if it were me i wouldnt be at lone star drugin up maidens.

True that no Derby winner has won this in a long time. However, there are two factors....1) an unusually weak field 2) The "Calvin" facgtor. The guys has the biggest clock in his head of any jockey going these days. |
