Had no action on the game, but always check in on k's threads. i'd just like to say that i love the kind of talk backdoorcover was having, as opposed to the usual blind praise people throw out there. that's what it's about, and questioning and playing devil's advocate is infinitely more useful than backpatting. So thank you guys for both providing some insight into the %ages, and backdoorcover showed class coming back here after the game.
special k, great call on the game as well. |

Yesterday: 2-0 Solid opening night, looking ahead to today, I'm not seeing too much I really like. I tend to play it slow early, to get a feel on offseason changes among teams, and player progressions. Philadelphia 76ers +9 (1.25 units) Miami Heat -5 (1.75 units) Denver/Utah under 208.5 (1.25 units) Yesterday's thread: https://www.covers.com/postingforum/post01/showmessage.aspx?spt=22&sub=100564595 |

Yesterday: 0-0 As usual, the amount I risk is in parenthesis, amount I win is slightly less with 10% juice. Best of luck to everyone tonight, let's start off the season right! Boston Celtics +5 (1.5 units) Washington Wizards +8.5 (1.25 units) |

The Cubs just blew that ninth run lead to a scrub outfield bench player batting .220 with 3 previous home runs on the year. Holy smokes Had the under 8.5 on that game as well .
Game, seems like you are getting back on track however, that was a terrible moose, but I like to see you being on the right side more and more. Great show today |

I think you have some great points vamos, and I think you are probably a successful baseball bettor. But some of your points are misleading, and hook is right in various instances. Baseball betting is all about value, and it doesn't matter how you lay the juice. All these games are independent events, and statistical models for baseball games as a whole are not as accurate as pitching-specific or team-specific or situation-specific models. A favorite laying -165 can have more value than a dog getting +110, depending on the situation. If you have a team that you have capped as winning 2 out of 3 times at -165, this has more line value than a team that will win half the time at +110.
I agree that long-term betting on faves is the most classic form of "bookie bank." But the point is, no one is arguing this. They are simply saying that it's about value, and not about picking "every favorite," as you have said to do to prove your point many times. If a favorite has more value, I'm all about taking the favorite. It's not a long-term betting strategy, it's about independent events and probabilities in certain situations. |

In my thread for game 3 (in which I indicated that I thought the Magic was the play), one of the key stats was Lamar Odom's play in letdown game situations. He has been called the Lakers MVP by much of the media, and I agree to some extent. When he shows up, the Lakers usually do well, and vice versa. He has been great in a lot of games these playoffs, but one spot where he doesn't excel is the first away game after taking a series lead. I expect a bounceback performance from him, and from the Lakers. I haven't looked thoroughly into this game yet, but I think this line is much tighter (although in hindsight, game 3 was pretty tight ) BOL buddy.
