i have deep respect, Van. I've been following your stuff for quite a while, and you've help me change the way I look at games. I do have a question, though, and again I ask respectfully. When it became clear that this season was going in a very different direction than most seasons (ie the books were getting killed by grandma's parlays), was there a chance for you to pivot and go with the market for a while?

 The vikings were -4 on weds. i know because i played it and it cashed. then they announced QB out and it moves to 7. not sure i get that the line was fishy. there were definitely some sucker lines. how about Atlanta? and Detroit? grandma gave back some of her knitting money on those.

so far, all favorites heading into monday night. don't recall having seen this. grandma cashed her tickets this weekend.

 Will do. no storm surge with Milton, so there's that. but lots of rain so there could be freshwater flooding in the house. and 100 mph winds. if the roof and windows survived, might be ok. gonna have to demo the kitchens, bathrooms, and the walls anyway. need new appliances. saved a few pieces of furniture. the place is essentially empty but for the garage which is a disaster still. got the demo guys lined up and paid, but they were supposed to start wednesday. Of course that didn't happen. I'm not in the state, but my brother is handling it. biggest problem is finding gasoline to drive over and run generators. there's no electricity. no water. no internet. but if the roof stayed on, we probably still have a house. it was my dad's retreat. he's been gone for 3 decades. the nc situation is horrible. it'll take a decade to recover. for some people, they'll have to start of scratch. i can't imagine it.

 got 2.5 feet in my house on Anna Maria from Helene but it was not that bad really. hoping the thing is still there after Milton. No idea when we'll be able to go check it out. Very sorry to hear about your NC place. one of my favorite places in the world up there. went to summer camp near hendersonville. sent my kids there, too. what happened around Lake Lure is unimaginable. I rented a big cabin up there a few years back. I assume it's lost. Feel bad for the owner. Nice guy.

van, how do you think it goes? i like the under here. both teams should move the ball some. then punt from the 45 a few times. KC has a definite edge on special teams.

Are we not adults here? It's your money. Make your own bets. Take responsibility for your choices. Van is a resource. A tremendous resource. He's not my only resource but I pay attention to what he says. When I disagree with his pick, I have three options: play against him (which I seldom do); lay off (like Miami at KC); or look at the game again, change my mind, and bet with him (Houston v Cleveland). I come up with my own bets, check them against his and a couple other resources, and then I make my bets. Send 50 bucks to save some kittens. It's a good deal.
