We have a busy betting slate in Major League Baseball today, including a matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

The Pinstripes are sending the struggling veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco to the mound tonight, and my Blue Jays predictions are banking on George Springer to take advantage of this matchup.

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Springer in Step

George Springer Over 1.0 hits (-110 at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays fly into the Bronx to start a new weekend series against the New York Yankees. Jose Berrios gets the start tonight for Toronto, while the Bombers will counter with veteran righty Carlos Carrasco.

The Yanks starter has struggled this season with a 6.53 ERA and has been hit fairly hard by right-handed batters, allowing a .357 batting average and an OPS of 1.312. That’s music to the ears of the Blue Jays, who have struggled to produce offense recently, averaging just 2.25 runs per game over their current five-game losing streak.

However, George Springer is at least hitting consistently as he’s recorded a hit in three of his last four and has walked in five straight, so he’s seeing the ball well.

Throughout the season, Springer has been the best hitter on the Blue Jays with a .333 average and an OPS north of .900. His underlying numbers support his early-season results, as well, with Baseball Savant ranking the Jays outfielder in the 87th percentile in the batter's box.

Additionally, Springer is the Jays' hitter with the most viewings of Carrasco. The two have faced off 25 times, with Springer collecting six hits in total, two of which were for extra bases. That experience should also come in handy for the veteran hitter.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

George Springer Over 0.5 hits

Carlos Carrasco Under 15.5 outs

Carlos Carrasco Over 2.5 earned runs allowed

For the first leg of our SGP, we’ll take George Springer to go Over 0.5 hits in order to try an avoid a push.
I’ll continue to fade Carrasco and take him to go Under 15.5 outs tonight. He’s yet to pitch himself out of the fifth inning and is 4-1 to the Under on this prop, averaging less than 15 outs per start.

Lastly, I’ll bank on a Jays offensive surge tonight. Carrasco has given up three or more runs in four of his five starts this season, so I’ll take Over 2.5 earned runs as the final leg of the SGP.
