My Cardinals vs Red Sox best bet: Alex Bregman to record an RBI (+140 at FanDuel)
The Boston Red Sox made a huge splash this offseason by signing Alex Bregman, one of the best third basemen in the sport. While there’s been controversy around him taking over the hot corner from Rafael Devers, there’s little doubt that Bregman will be a staple in this lineup.
The veteran has had a hit in all but one game so far in the 2025 season, but Thursday was evidently his coming-out party. Bregman went 3-for-4 against the Baltimore Orioles with his first home run while smacking two doubles and collecting his first three RBI of the year as well. That’s my focus here.
As we know, hitting is contagious. When you’re confident at the dish, it can easily carry into the next day. Bregman just tore the cover off the baseball. He only has one career at-bat versus Erik Fedde, who will start today for the St. Louis Cardinals. That being said, Bregman slashed .286 last season against St. Louis with two hits and an RBI.
Bregman had 75 RBI in 2024 and continues to hit third in the Red Sox lineup — the perfect spot to drive in runs. This is also his first game at Fenway Park, which is going to provide some motivation. After all, he is their marquee signing and all eyes will be on him.
As we’ve all seen in the past years, Bregman shines when the pressure is on. I’m not saying he’s going to be under immense pressure today, but fans will be excited to see what he brings to the table. Bregman is going to do his part this afternoon and stay hot after spraying the baseball all over the diamond on Thursday.

Walker Buehler signed with the Red Sox this winter as well after spending his entire career with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Injuries have derailed his production over the last couple of seasons, and he’s had a difficult time finding that previous form, but the righty is still effective.
Buehler tossed 4 1/3 innings in his debut, allowing three earned runs and striking out three. There was once a time when Buehler was a strikeout machine. After all, he’s racked up 757 career Ks in 718 innings. Throughout his career, the Vanderbilt product has always enjoyed himself against the Cardinals, compiling a 2.88 ERA while striking out 31 hitters in 25 frames. He’ll bring his swing-and-miss stuff to Fenway.
Nolan Arenado was the subject of non-stop trade rumors all winter, but he’s stayed put. The Cardinals are surely happy he did, considering how the veteran is swinging the bat. He’s slashing .391 with a homer and six RBI already.
In fact, Arenado has at least one RBI in three straight contests. He was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in on Wednesday in the series finale against the Los Angeles Angels. Although he’s batting just .194 lifetime against Buehler, he has four RBI in 31 at-bats.
