Orioles vs Diamondbacks Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today’s MLB Game

Zac Gallen pantsed the Yankees in his last start and seems to have fully harnessed his knuckle-curve. With the Orioles in town, he will be the difference-maker in this series opener.

Both the Baltimore Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks can use the change of scenery as the teams open a 3-game interleague series set tonight at Chase Field.

The O’s just lost two of three against the Royals and have just one win in their last five. Arizona, meanwhile, lost two of three to the Nationals and have just one win on their last four.

Our Orioles vs Diamondbacks predictions and MLB picks have the home team getting a leg up with an advantage in the pitching department on Monday, April 7.

My Orioles vs Diamondbacks best bet: Diamondbacks moneyline (-130 at Caesars)

After opening with 32 runs in their first five games of the season, the Baltimore Orioles bats have gone silent, plating just seven runs across their last four losses.

Their pitching staff has been exposed and the offense hasn’t covered up those inefficiencies. Baltimore is Bottom 10 with a 4.71 ERA, and teams are hitting a comfortable .272, which ranks 25th.

They’re hoping Zach Eflin can steer the staff in the right direction in the desert. The righty is coming off his first win of the season, giving up just two hits and two earned runs across six innings in a 12-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Arizona Diamondbacks lineup hasn’t seen much of Elfin, with only two players registering more than 10 at-bats against him.

After starting the year 4-2, Arizona lost its weekend series against the Nationals, dropping a pair of one-score games. The Diamondbacks are a Top 5 offense in runs scored, and they’re inside the Top 10 in average, on-base percentage, slugging, and fifth in OPS at .800. Consider this a blip on the radar, especially after Arizona boasted the best offense in the majors a year ago.

Like Baltimore, the Diamondbacks have had trouble on the pitching side, currently 26th in the majors with a 5.07 ERA, and they’ve been taken yard 16 times, tied for the second-most in baseball.

However, Arizona turns to one of its best pitchers in the opener, Zac Gallen. He’s led the D-Backs in wins the last two seasons, and after an inauspicious season debut against the Cubs where he allowed four runs on four hits in four innings while walking four and striking out, you guessed it, four, Gallen dismantled the fearsome New York Yankees lineup. The right-hander twirled 6 2/3 shutout innings, allowing just three hits while matching a career-high with 13 strikeouts. He generated a ton of whiffs on his knuckle-curve, and was in complete control the entire game.

Baltimore has taken four of the last five in this head-to-head, but Gallen is the better of the two starters tonight and will lead Arizona to victory.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Orioles vs Diamondbacks same-game parlay (SGP)

Diamondbacks moneyline

Zac Gallen Over 6.5 strikeouts

Over 8.5

The Orioles are just outside the Bottom 20 in baseball with an average of 8.8 strikeouts per game.

Gallen has already shown he can mow down potent lineups, as he did against the Yankees in his last start. Dating back to last season, he’s had at least seven or more strikeouts in seven of his last nine starts. That 6.5 strikeout line is generous for Monday.

While we’re banking on a good start from Gallen, there’s still plenty of opportunity for runs, and the Over has cashed in four of the last five head-to-heads between these teams.

Both Arizona and Baltimore have seen the 8.5 scoring line passed in three of their last four games.
