Two teams expected to contend in the ultra-competitive AL East clash for the first time this season when the Boston Red Sox open a 3-game set in Charm City against the Baltimore Orioles.
Boston salvaged just a single win in its 4-game opening set against the Texas Rangers, while Baltimore split its 4-game set in Toronto.
Our Red Sox vs Orioles predictions and MLB picks on Monday, March 31, expect Baltimore’s offense to carry it to open the series with a bang.

My Red Sox vs Orioles best bet: Orioles moneyline (-145 at Caesars)
It was all downhill for the Boston Red Sox after an Opening day 5-2 win in Texas. From there, the BoSox dropped three straight, scoring just six runs across those games.
The early offensive returns look a little grim, as Boston is hitting just .193 and scoring just 2.8 runs per nine innings.
No one needs a change of scenery more than Red Sox DH Rafael Devers does from Texas, as he became the first major leaguer to strike out 12 times in a season’s first four games.
Boston will turn to Sean Newcomb this afternoon. He hasn’t been a full-time starter since the 2018 season with Atlanta and has just three starts over the last three seasons.
He’s essentially a fresh face to the Baltimore Orioles, as their lineup has five official at-bats against him.
The Orioles were everything as advertised in their opening set with Toronto. They came out of that series scoring 24 runs and slugging 10 home runs. They’re scoring six runs per nine innings and hitting a healthy .279 on the year.
However, they only one two of those games against the Jays because their pitching also let them down — perhaps something Boston can capitalize on.
The Orioles have allowed 6.27 runs per nine innings and have an inflated 4.50 ERA as they turn the ball over to lefty Cade Povich.
The 24-year-old struggled in his rookie campaign, going 3-9 with a 5.20 ERA in 16 starts. He’s unfamiliar to the Red Sox as well, as no player in their lineup has more than six at-bats against him.
These teams have been evenly matched, alternating wins and losses in five straight games, and neither team has earned more than two wins in a row in the last 10 meetings.
At this point in the year, Baltimore’s offense is the difference maker and should generate enough runs to lift themselves over the .500 mark.
Caesars QuickPick: Our Red Sox vs Orioles same-game parlay (SGP)
Tyler O’Neill had a productive series against Toronto, going 4-for-10 with a home run, four RBI, and three runs scored. He’s one of the few Orioles that’s had a look at Newcomb, and though he doesn’t have a hit against him, he does have an RBI in a couple of at-bats.
This is the first lefty he’ll see this season, and O’Neill did well against southpaws in 2024, hitting .313 with 16 home runs and 29 RBI.
Povich figured out something at the end of the year, as he picked up at least five strikeouts in five of his last seven starts. One of those was against these same Red Sox, when he went 6 1/3 innings, giving up six hits and a pair of earned runs while striking out six.
