The Colorado Rockies and Toronto Blue Jays begin a three-game set at Rogers Centre on Friday night. It's been a rough start to the season for the Jays, but at least they've been more competitive than the Rockies, who are 3-10 and seem destined for another last-place finish in the NL West.
MLB odds for this matchup reflect how bad Colorado has been, with Toronto installed as a -250 favorite and the Over/Under at 8.0. Delve into our latest MLB picks with my Rockies vs. Blue Jays predictions for April 12.

My best bet
Blue Jays run line -1.5 (-118 at PROLINE+)
My analysis
The Toronto Blue Jays began their season with 10 straight games on the road before finally returning home on Monday. They took two of three games against the Mariners, putting up runs against Seattle aces Luis Castillo and George Kirby before getting stymied by Logan Gilbert on Wednesday.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, and George Springer are currently mired in a slump, batting a collective .193. However, they all have proven track records, so it's likely just a matter of finding their swing. They should be able to do that at home tonight with the Colorado Rockies sending Ryan Feltner to the mound.
Feltner pitched to a 5.83 ERA with a 1.41 WHIP across 97.1 innings as a rookie in 2022. He had an almost identical 5.82 ERA last year but struggled with his control, and his WHIP surged to 1.69. Feltner is coming off a strong outing against Tampa Bay but surrendered five runs in five innings in his season debut.
Expect Toronto's slumping lineup to see positive regression with Feltner toeing the rubber tonight.
Positive regression should also set in for Kevin Gausman, who takes to the hill for Toronto. Gausman is coming off an ugly outing against the Yankees where he gave up six runs before getting the hook midway through the second inning. However, the Jays ace pitched well in his first start of the year and boasts a 3.10 ERA with a sizzling 2.79 FIP across 95 starts in his previous three seasons.
Gausman finished third in the AL Cy Young Award voting last year and he should bounce back against a Rockies lineup that has been terrible away from Coors Field. The Rockies have an OPS of just .620 in away games and they've finished at the bottom of the NL in OPS on the road for three straight seasons.
Colorado also had the second-worst run differential in the majors last season (-236), and its (unsuprinslgy) dead last in that category this year (-35). Back the Jays to win by multiple runs tonight.

My best bet
Kevin Gausman Over 7.5 strikeouts (+120 at PROLINE +)
Gausman got the hook early in his previous start but fanned six batters in 4.1 innings in his first outing of the season. He also racked up seven punch-outs in just three innings of spring work.
Gausman posted career-high numbers in strikeouts (237) and strikeouts per nine innings (11.5) last year, and today faces a Rockies lineup that doesn't do a good job of making contact. The Rockies were dead last in strikeout rate on the road last year (27.3%), and have begun the season 24th in overall strikeout rate while ranking 28th in chase rate.
