The New York Yankees look to club their way to a three-game sweep when they take on the Pittsburgh Pirates Sunday afternoon from PNC Park.

New York has pounded Pittsburgh's pitching, putting up 19 runs over the first two games to win going away. Our Yankees vs. Pirates predictions and MLB picks expect more of the same Sunday, with lefty Andrew Heaney trying to deal with one of baseball’s most potent lineups.

My Yankees vs Pirates best bet: Yankees -1.5 (-105 at Caesars)

The New York Yankees have been mashing to start the season. They lead the majors in runs scored with 72. Only one other team has more than 54, and those are the Cubs with 70, having played three more games.

New York leads all teams with 25 home runs, and tops with a team slugging percentage of .630, an on-base percentage of .382, and a 1.012 OPS. The closest team to them in that category is the Cardinals, who are at .879. All that offense has helped to cover up a pitching staff that’s yet to fire on all cylinders. New York’s pitching currently sports a 4.50 ERA, just outside the Bottom 10 in baseball.

However, they limit opponents to a .206 average, ranking sixth overall. Will Warren gets the call for the Yanks this afternoon, and he’s coming off a no-decision in his first start of the year, an eventual 7-5 loss to Arizona. He gave up just a single hit over five innings, though he did surrender two earned runs and a home run while walking four.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have had a rough start to the season and have lost six of their last seven heading into the finale on Sunday. They own the second-worst ERA in baseball at 5.22. They’ve surrendered the third-most earned runs with 46 in nine games, and teams are hitting a crisp .277 against them, which ranks in the Bottom 4.

Save for a Paul Skenes start and win over the Rays, Pittsburgh has allowed at least six runs in each of its last four losses, getting outscored 32-9.

Andrew Heaney will try to stop the bleeding, but he’s struggled in his career against the Yankees, picking up losses in four of his last five starts, giving up 19 earned runs in just over 23 innings.

New York has won by at least two runs in each of their six wins this season — we’ll take them to bash their way to another win on Sunday.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Yankees vs Pirates same-game parlay (SGP)

Yankees -1.5

Paul Goldschmidt Over 1.5 hits

Aaron Judge Over 0.5 runs scored

Paul Goldschmidt is coming off a 3-for-4 afternoon with a run scored and an RBI in New York’s 10-4 trouncing on Saturday. That’s after he went 2-for-5 with a run scored in the Yankees’ 9-4 win in the series opener. He gets a chance to face a lefty on Sunday, and he’s been on fire to start 2025, going 4-for-7 so far. He hit .295 a year ago vs. southpaws with five homers and 16 RBI.

Goldschmidt has only faced Heaney three times in his career, with one hit. With so much pop in the Yankees’ lineup, he’ll again get some good pitches to hit.

Let’s end with Aaron Judge, who scored two runs Saturday, making it four straight games he’s scored a run, and six times in eight games on the season. He has three hits in 13 at-bats against Heaney — the most of any Yankee — with a home run. He’s in the middle of all the electric stuff New York is doing, and getaway day shouldn’t be any different.
