My best bet
Trae Young Over 21.5 points (-115 at bet365)
My analysis
While the Atlanta Hawks have dealt with a flurry of injuries this season, Trae Young has managed to keep them afloat. Quin Snyder’s squad is seventh in the Eastern Conference at the moment with a 14-13 record. Young’s points are down quite a bit at just 21.5 ppg but he’s dishing out a whopping 12.1 assists and grabbing four rebounds per night.
However, the guard is scoring the rock at a high level as of late, hitting the Over in points in three of his last four appearances. Young showed out for 35 in the NBA Cup semifinals against the Bucks last Saturday and also scored 22 versus the Knicks a few nights before that.
Yes, the trends point to another impressive performance from Trae, but I also like this bet because of how well he played against the San Antonio Spurs in 2023-24, averaging a mind-boggling 40.5 points per night. San Antonio is also allowing 23.7 ppg to point guards in 2024-25.
I firmly believe the versatile Young will surpass the 21.5 total tonight on the road, where he’s averaging 22.9 points per game.

Victor Wembanyama has seen a slight uptick in his numbers in Year 2, averaging 23.6 ppg as opposed to 21.4 last season. When it comes to his playmaking, the big man is averaging the same as 2023-24 – 3.9 dimes. Not bad for a center, but he’s not a Nikola Jokic-type passer, either.
The sophomore has been facilitating the rock well lately, hitting the Over 4.5 in three of his last four. However, the Hawks held him to 2.0 assists per night in two meetings last season. While Atlanta is struggling to contain opponents lately in the passing lanes (32 dimes allowed across the last three games), they’re allowing just under 4.0 dimes per contest to bigs this season.
That’s enough reason for me to think they can slow down Wemby in this area, at the very least. He’s also dishing out just 3.4 assists per game at home in 2024-25 against 4.4 on the road.
The Hawks won both games against the Spurs last season and have been thriving this month, going 7-3 in their last 10 outings. Before losing to the Bucks in the NBA Cup, Atlanta had won seven of eight.
Four of those victories came away from home, now putting them above .500 on the road with a 7-6 record. The Hawks have gone 3-1 in their last four vs San Antonio and will be hungry to bounce back after four days' rest since the defeat to Milwaukee. Atlanta will get back in the win column.
