Lakers vs 76ers Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Russell Gets Hot in Philly

The Los Angeles Lakers limp into Wells Fargo to take on the Philadelphia 76ers. With so many scorers potentially missing for the Lake Show, our NBA picks are expecting D'Angelo Russell to take a step forward on offense.

A potential NBA Finals preview highlights Tuesday’s NBA odds board when the Los Angeles Lakers travel to the City of Brotherly Love to play the Philadelphia 76ers.

As it stands, the Sixers are 5.5-point home favorites for this non-conference clash. However, that spread will change once NBA bettors get an official status on L.A. star LeBron James, who is listed as a game-time decision due to a calf contusion.

Los Angeles’ other standout, Anthony Davis, is also down as a GTD but is probable to play Tuesday. That sets up a battle of the bigs, with Davis facing reigning MVP Joel Embiid inside.

I break down the spread and Over/Under total for this East vs. West war and give my best NBA picks for Lakers vs. 76ers on November 27.

Lakers vs 76ers predictions

Injuries have left the Los Angeles Lakers’ roster running dangerously thin during this current East Coast road swing.

On top of already being down Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Jared Vanderbilt, and Cam Reddish, Los Angeles runs the risk of playing without LeBron James on Tuesday night. And while Anthony Davis is expected to suit up in Philadelphia, D’Angelo Russell is the only L.A. starter without an injury designation.

Russell logged 32 minutes and shot the ball 12 times in Saturday’s win at Cleveland. However, he made just four of those attempts and failed to get to the foul line, finishing with only 10 points — playing well Under his closing player points total of 14.5 O/U.

His scoring total for Monday is set as low as 13.5 points (BetRivers), which is a season-low O/U for Russell, who’s averaging just shy of 17 points on 13.4 field goal attempts per game.

He’s been enjoying more of a pure point guard role on the roster to begin the season, doing a great job jumpstarting the offense with his playmaking. But, given the roster woes, Russell is going to be counted on to score more and will log plenty of floor time and get a surplus of looks tonight.

That situation gives added pop to his player prop against the Sixers. He’s scored 14 points or more in 11 of his 17 games so far this season, and that was with a much healthier lineup splitting shots.

Player projections have Russell’s ceiling flirting with 19 points — a bar that won’t seem too high if James does in fact sit out. My number comes out just north of 16 points for Los Angeles’ guard.

That projection should have the Over 13.5 points priced in the -180 range rather than the -127 price tag at some shops on Monday morning. If you can’t get that market low, the Over 14.5 -104 is still good considering Russell’s forecast and spot in the offense tonight.

My best bet: D’Angelo Russell Over 13.5 points (-127 at BetRivers)

Lakers vs 76ers same-game parlay

D’Angelo Russell Over 13.5 points

Lakers team total Under 112.5 points

76ers moneyline

With the Lakers lineup missing a bunch of bodies, Russell will get floor time and touches to go Over his lowest-scoring prop of the season. Los Angeles doesn’t shoot well on the road and takes on a 76ers team that plays one of the slowest paces in the NBA, dragging this game into the sand.

The Sixers should be able to beat up on an injury-riddled L.A. roster, especially if LeBron decides to sit this one out with a calf injury after playing through pain in Cleveland Saturday.

Lakers vs 76ers spread and Over/Under analysis

Philadelphia opened as low as a 4.5-point home favorite, and with the injury report not looking good for Los Angeles, this spread has jumped as high as Philly -6 on Monday morning.

LeBron James is a game-time decision with a calf contusion, joining a laundry list of Lakers injuries to the starting five and top reserves.

Philadelphia is back home after splitting a brief two-game road trip, boasting a 6-3 straight up and against the spread mark inside the Wells Fargo Center. As for Los Angeles, it’s playing its second stop of this four-game road trip after beating up on LeBron’s former club in Cleveland on Saturday. The Lakers are just 3-5 SU as a visitor with a 4-4 ATS count in those games.

Tonight’s Over/Under total opened at 213.5 points and has stayed relatively still in the opening hours of action. Covers Consensus shows 54% of picks siding with the Over.

Philadelphia brings a 9-6-1 O/U count into this game but has gone 6-3 to the Over at home thanks to that offensive uptick. The 76ers do run one of the more methodical paces in the NBA.

Los Angeles is 6-11 O/U with a 3-5 O/U count on the road. The Lakers’ shooting woes away from home as well as a much slower pace rating away from home feed into those total results.
