The last winless team in Big 12 play, the Oklahoma State Cowboys welcome in the 19th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs Tuesday night.

The Cowboys have dropped five straight games, all within the conference, to sit 0-5. Despite their struggles, they’re just a 4.5-point home underdog in the college basketball odds.

TCU has dropped two straight, but it’s in a brutal stretch that has it playing seven ranked teams in 10 games.

Can it make hay against one of the unranked teams on this slate? Read below for my free TCU vs. Oklahoma State college basketball picks on January 23, complete with a best bet.

TCU vs Oklahoma State best odds

TCU vs Oklahoma State picks and predictions

Give TCU credit, it’s run through a brutal part of its schedule, and lost three games by a total of seven points.

The Horned Frogs dropped a 73-72 heartbreaker to 24th-ranked Iowa State, with an absurd 27 turnovers doing them in.

Their previous high this season was 19, and that came the game before, an 81-77 OT loss to the unranked Cincinnati Bearcats.

Talk about a crash from such a high: the Horned Frogs had just come off wins over ninth-ranked Oklahoma and No. 2 Houston and came a bucket short against then-second-ranked Kansas.

Oklahoma State’s skid started with a 75-70 OT loss to 18th-ranked Baylor, stopping its season-best five-game win streak.

The Cowboys proceeded to get clubbed by Texas Tech, Iowa State and Kansas in consecutive losses, losing by an average of 21.6 points. Last time out, they got edged 70-66 to Kansas State.

The question will be if the Cowboys can keep up with the TCU offense, which churns out 82.9 points per game, good for 25th in the nation. OKST does have an above average defense, allowing 69.4 points per game.

However, the Cowboys are an even worse turnover team than TCU, coughing it up 14 times per game, a lowly 322nd in college hoops.

That won’t help when taking on the best transition team in the nation, as the Horned Frogs average 22.2 fast-break points. No other team in the country is even touching 19 points.

The Horned Frogs have won four of the last six head-to-head matchups and have covered in five of the last six.

I think they cash in on one of their unranked opponents and beat up on an Oklahoma State side that is only scoring 72.1 points per game, which ranks 248th.

My best bet: TCU -4.5 (-108 at DraftKings)

TCU vs Oklahoma State same-game parlay

TCU -4.5

Trevian Tennyson Over 2.5 made 3-pointers

Javon Small Under 13.5 points

20% boost available

Senior guard Trevian Tennyson has found the range for the Horned Frogs. The transfer from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is coming off a 19-point night against Iowa State, which included a 3-for-7 mark from 3-point range.

In his last six games, he’s crossed his 2.5 3-point make line five times, his only blemish coming with a tough 2-point night against Oklahoma, where Tennyson shot 0-for-8 from the field and all five of his 3-point attempts.

Take that game away, and he’s shooting a blistering 60% from beyond the arc, drilling 21-for-25 over those five games.

TCU is ranked 146th in 3-point shooting, and the Cowboys are 146th in 3-point shooting defense. With that sawed off, the recent performance tips it in his favor.

Finish off this three-leg SGP with Oklahoma State leading scorer Javon Small, who’s failed to come up big of late.

Small finished with 11 points in the loss to K-State and combined to score 10 points versus Kansas and Iowa State.

TCU is no slouch defensively, as it surrenders 68.8 points per game (107th) and gets into its cover, as it ranks 13th in steals and is also 15th-best in forcing turnovers, at 15.9 per game.

The transfer from East Carolina has actually only topped 13.5 points scoring in two of his last seven games. Look for him to be slowed down again, as the Big 12 slate doesn’t come with off nights.

TCU vs Oklahoma State spread and Over/Under analysis

This spread has never gone below 4.5 points but has touched the five-point mark at a few books.

The Horned Frogs are 10-8-0 against the spread this season, while the Cowboys have covered in five of their 18 starts this year.

The total has mostly settled in at the 145.5-point mark, but it has hit a high of 149.5, with lots of variance in between. You should be able to shop around to find the number you’re most comfortable with.

Like its ATS record, TCU has seen the Over go 10-8-0, the exact Over record of the Cowboys.

These teams have hit the Over in five of their last six encounters.
