The Los Angeles Rams are still looking for their first win of the season as they host the San Francisco 49ers at SoFi Stadium in Week 3.
Although Christian McCaffrey remains out for the defending NFC champs, my 49ers vs. Rams predictions are bullish on Jordan Mason to keep excelling as San Francisco's lead running back.

My analysis
The San Francisco 49ers are hurting pretty bad right now on offense. Christian McCaffery is on injured reserve, Deebo Samuel is out with a calf injury, and George Kittle is doubtful for Sunday’s game.
Luckily, running back Jordan Mason has stepped up so far this season.
Mason has rushed for 247 yards through two weeks, with only the Chargers’ J.K. Dobbins (266 yards) ahead of him. The third-year back has reached the 100-yard mark in each of the first two games this season, on 28 and 20 carries respectively.
The 49ers should be giving Mason the ball at least 20 or 25 times against the Los Angeles Rams. Not only is San Francisco missing a few key offensive options, but a 6.5-point spread is a great game script for running the ball.
Mason has been able to break a run of at least 20 yards in each of his first two games, and the Rams have been fairly weak defensively against the run this season. Detroit RB David Montgomery broke out a carry for 21 yards in Week 1 went for 21 yards, and three different Arizona backs (James Conner, Kyler Murray, and Emari Demercado) all had rushes of 22+ yards last week.
Look for Mason to get a heavy workload against the Rams, and that should mean at least one big scamper.

Mason has hit the 100-yard mark in both games thus far and should do so again against the Rams in Week 3. Montgomery reached 91 yards on 17 carries in Week 1 against Los Angeles, while Conner racked up 122 yards on 21 attempts last week.
The running back has also scored in each of the first two games, and the Rams have allowed a rushing touchdown in each of their first two games.
