Super Bowl 59 is in sight, and Caesars Superdome will play host to the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles in the "Big Easy" on Sunday, February 9.

While Caesars Sportsbook has held firm with the same Super Bowl odds for the moneyline and spread leading into the weekend, we have seen the total dip to 48.5. Kansas City remains a short favorite to win its third consecutive Super Bowl, while Philadelphia running back Saquon Barkley continues to receive oodles of betting action ahead of the big game.

Here are the latest betting insights on the Super Bowl 59 odds.

Total falls overnight

The total for Super Bowl 59 was 49 for over a week at Caesars Sportsbook, and the shop finally dipped to 48.5 on Thursday evening. The lack of huge adjustments to the number is not surprising because there’s a strong case for both sides of the total.

Both the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs have capable offenses, and playing indoors at Caesars Superdome will provide perfect scoring conditions. The Eagles and Chiefs also combined for 73 points in Super Bowl 57.

Still, these are also a pair of well-coached, high-end defenses. I’m also expecting both offenses aiming to control the time of possession with clock-churning drives to keep their defenses fresh and on the sidelines.

I doubt this is the last move to the Super Bowl 59 total, too.

Short Chiefs chalk still stands

Kansas City has dipped to a -1 favorite with -115 moneyline odds after opening at -2 and -130 at Caesars. These prices have held strong since Tuesday evening, and Philadelphia is trading at +1 and -105 on the moneyline.

Expect continued back-and-forth action leading into Sunday’s kickoff, but I wouldn’t expect a huge adjustment to either the spread or moneyline now.

Saquon King of anytime TD bets

Vice president of trading at Caesars Sportsbook Craig Mucklow noted there have been more bets on Eagles running back Saquon Barkley to score a touchdown during Super Bowl 59 than the Eagles moneyline and Chiefs moneyline combined.

The Philly rusher has scored five times the past two playoff games, but he’s also only found the end zone in three of his past seven dating back to the regular season.

Barkley’s -190 anytime touchdown odds have an implied probability of 65.5% he finds pay dirt, and a $100 wager on him to score a touchdown in Super Bowl 59 returns a profit of $52.63.

Surprising fliers on Super Bowl MVP

While Barkley has also hogged the Super Bowl MVP odds headlines leading into Sunday’s big game, Caesars Sportsbook tweeted out a pair of MVP flier bets on Kansas City running back Carson Steele and Philly safety Reed Blankenship.

Steele has only played 10 of a possible 117 offensive snaps during the postseason and is fourth on the RB depth chart, so he definitely fits the long-shot billing.

It’s also definitely a similar story with Blankenship, but at least there is a precedent for safeties taking home the honors. Jake Scott won Super Bowl MVP with two interceptions in Super Bowl 7, and Dexter Jackson also hoisted the hardware after hauling in a pair of first-half interceptions in Super Bowl 37.
