Clyde Edwards-Helaire Super Bowl 57 Prop Odds and Prediction: West Clyde Story

Clyde-Edwards Helaire lost the starting job to Isiah Pacheco this season, but that doesn't mean the former first-round pick won't play a role in the Chiefs' offense on Sunday. Find out more in our Super Bowl prop picks.

Update: Clyde Edwards-Helaire will not dress for the Super Bowl after all. The Kansas City Chiefs running back was added to the team's inactive list just before kickoff despite being activated recently from the injured reserve.

CEH last played in Week 11 and had been nursing a high ankle sprain suffered against the Los Angeles Chargers. His absense should lead to even more carries for Isiah Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon.

Super Bowl odds have bettors gearing up for the big game tonight. With that in mind, I’m going to look at Clyde Edwards-Helaire in my Super Bowl player props.

He’s one of the most divisive players in the NFL, with some considering the running back to be a bust and others still believing that he can still be great. Find out which CEH we will see in my Super Bowl picks

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Super Bowl 57 best bet

Most casual bettors are picking their Super Bowl wagers by looking at the big names and the star quarterbacks. However, those who love a deep dive into the very bottom of the depth charts scouring for value know there is more to be had.

That’s why I present to you, Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

The former first-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs was activated on Monday with Mecole Hardman landing on the IR. After CEH was drafted with the 32nd overall pick by the Chiefs in 2020, there were question marks over his size and how well he’d fit the NFL.

Many, including myself, thought he’d be a great fit into the dynamic Chiefs offense... but apart from a couple of monster games, it just hasn't worked.

Edwards-Helaire started this season strong — scoring two touchdowns in Week 1 — but his season nearly ended in Week 11 after an injury against the Chargers. Rookie running back Isiah Pacheco has since looked far more consistent than CEH as the starter in Kansas City's backfield.

Despite all of CEH’s failings and being supplanted by Pacheco, I feel we might be ready for a Super Bowl redemption story for the former first-round pick. Edwards-Helaire has been unlucky with injuries but there’s still talent there, especially if it is used sparingly and he’s not forced to run the hard yards that risk harm to his body.

CEH found the endzone six times this season before his injury, splitting his touchdowns equally between the ground and the air. I’m not saying that Edwards-Helaire is going to lead the backfield in carries on Sunday, but he’ll take the Ronald Jones role as the third back, with Jerick McKinnon likely to also lose touches as a result.

In the biggest game of the season with Andy Reid calling plays, we could see CEH used in some interesting play calls that should give him a good chance to find paydirt tonight.

Prop: Edwards-Helaire anytime touchdown (+950)

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Super Bowl 57 SGP

Clyde Edwards-Helaire anytime TD

Jerick McKinnon Under 19.5 rushing yards

Isiah Pacheco 40+ rushing yards

For this same-game parlay, we will also be involving his teammates in the Chiefs' backfield.

McKinnon has been brilliant for the Chiefs this season, but his strength lies in the receiving game. I’d expect McKinnon to lose a share of his already limited work on the ground to CEH, meaning that I’m happy to take Under 19.5 rushing yards for the veteran back.

The final piece of our SGP is to focus on Pacheco. The 23-year-old might not have a great draft pedigree but he’s improved with each and every game this season and has really earned the trust of the entire Chiefs' offense.

What’s been most impressive with Pacheco has been his ability to be physical and win that extra yard. That’s going to be crucial in a game against this Philadelphia Eagles’ defense and with Mahomes still likely a little hobbled.

For that reason, I’m very confident we see Pacheco rush for 40+ yards tonight.
