Canucks vs Golden Knights Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Reinforcements Have Arrived in Vegas

The Golden Knights aren't keeping the status quo, which the acquisitions of Anthony Mantha and Noah Hanifin underscore. Adding them takes the pressure off Jack Eichel, who just recently returned. Back home, Vegas is in good shape vs. Vancouver.

The Vegas Golden Knights return home after a five-game road trip and they've brought reinforcements. They’ll enter tonight as a slight -115 home favorite vs. the Vancouver Canucks, whose offense has dried up of late with just 14 goals over their last seven games.

Following that ugly 1-3-1 five-game road trip, do the recent trade acquisitions motivate a slipping Vegas squad that's played much better at home with a 19-9-2 record on the year?

I break down the NHL odds and offer my free NHL picks for Canucks vs. Golden Knights for Thursday, March 7.

Canucks vs Golden Knights predictions

The Vegas Golden Knights finally return home after a 10-day road trip where the reigning champs won just a single game and gave up 13 goals over the last two vs. bad teams in Buffalo and Columbus. It was an ugly stretch of hockey but spirits are much higher today as the front office has committed to making this team better.

The Knights added Anthony Mantha and defenseman Noah Hanifin to the lineup. Coach Bruce Cassidy expects Mantha, who will likely jump into a top-six role, to play tonight while Hanifin is more questionable.

The Knights have been dealing with a lot of injuries of late with the newest being Alex Martinez, but this is something that can boost the feelings in the locker room, and putting that road trip in the rearview mirror is a good thing for the Knights, who are -115 on the moneyline.

Jack Eichel also returned to the lineup last game and should have better legs under him after shaking off the rust. Things are looking much better for the Knights.

Vegas has been a much better team at home with a plus-0.64 goal differential per game. The Knights match up well vs. a struggling Vancouver Canucks offense as only three other teams have a better home GAA than Vegas. It’s the perfect time to play a cold offense as Vancouver has scored five goals over its last three games and has not scored more than three goals since February 19.

This game opened as a pick ‘em at SIA so the early money is on the home side and if Hanifin is confirmed to play, this line could get even shorter.

Neither goalie has been confirmed at the time of writing but Adin Hill vs. Thatcher Demko is a wash. Despite the injuries, Vegas has been scoring, and with Vancouver diluting its lines and Elias Lindholm not producing, the Knights can win this game by tallying three goals. The total is sitting at 6 in what could be a tight game, though the home team has the edge.

My best bet: Golden Knights moneyline (-115 at SIA)

Canucks vs Golden Knights same-game parlay

Golden Knights moneyline

Under 6.5

Jack Eichel anytime goal

I'm on the Knights as I see them as the more motivated team after some trades that certainly boosted the lineup. Getting Eichel back is also massive, especially in a game in that I don't project a ton of scoring with the offensive struggles of the Canucks.

Hill vs. Demko is a great Under matchup and, as stated above, I feel the Knights can shake their generous ways at home and lock down a cold offense. The Eichel goal is giving a little multiplier but he should have ample opportunities to score thanks to the injuries to Mark Stone and other middle-six forwards.

Canucks vs Golden Knights moneyline and Over/Under analysis

This game opened as a pick ‘em with most books shortening the home side by five points just after lunch. The Over is starting to take some money on the 6 but Over bettors have to decide if the Canucks offense can snap a cold spell vs. the Knights, who have been very generous of late.

I’m in the boat that this is going to be a low-scoring game. Vegas just finished an awful road trip but plays much better at home and acquired two great roster pieces via trade. Energy will be high tonight for the home team.

Vancouver could have some envy as it sits with the best record in the West, but over the last two months, the team has a plus-three goal differential over 25 games despite a 15-10 record. Conversely, Vegas is 10-12 SU over that same stretch with a minus-three goal differential. These teams are much more even than the standings indicate.

At this point of the season, I don’t value the Canucks as a Top-5 team, which is how they're being priced. This is a team that needs to make some moves soon as all the teams in the West are getting better, including the Golden Knights.

I’m on the home side on the ML at -115 and lean towards the Under.
