Canucks vs Kings Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

Defense and goaltending has been a winning formula for both the Canucks and the Kings of late, and bettors should expect this head-to-head to fall below the total as a result, continuing a longstanding trend between these teams.

Winners of five straight on the road, the Vancouver Canucks look to complete a perfect California-coast trip when they visit the Los Angeles Kings.

They’ll be in tough against an L.A. side that’s cooking right now, going 7-2-1 over its last 10, but the books have it pretty even. The ‘Nucks are slight -110 moneyline favorites in the NHL odds for Thursday's affair at Crypto.com Arena.

With both teams in the top half of goals against, my Canucks vs. Kings predictions and NHL picks have this one staying Under the total on November 7.

My Canucks analysis

The Vancouver Canucks opened their three-game California swing with a 3-2 win over the Sharks, followed by a dominant 5-1 win over the Ducks last time out.

Quinn Hughes led the way with three helpers, while Brock Boeser, Danton Heinen, and Kiefer Sherwood each had a goal and an assist.

Offensive balance has been a theme for the Canucks this season, with 11 players scoring at least two goals and none more than six, while 11 players have at least five points and none more than 12.

The Canucks have yet to lose in regulation this year when they hold teams to two goals or less, going 4-0-1 in five games. Anything past that threshold, and they’re a pedestrian 2-2-2.

The Los Angeles Kings are coming off back-to-back road wins as well, punctuated with a 5-1 win over the Wild last time out.

L.A. is Top 8 in scoring defense, surrendering just 2.86 goals against per contest. The Kings haven’t allowed a team to score three goals in any of its last seven wins.

They have dominated this Pacific Division matchup of late as well, beating Vancouver five times in the last six matchups.

But the real target here is the total, as the Under is a sparkling 8-1-1 in the last 10 meetings. Only in the last meeting between these teams — a 6-3 Kings victory on April 6, 2024 — have the teams combined to score seven or more goals over that span.

Vancouver and L.A. have only combined to hit six goals one other time, a 5-1 Kings triumph on February 29, 2024.

With the way both teams have been playing coming into Friday, it’s a good bet that both stay on trend.

Canucks vs Kings Over/Under analysis

The Kings have been the moneyline underdog in six of the last 10 meetings with the Canucks, going 2-4 in those games. Vancouver has been the ML betting favorite nine times on the season, going 6-3.

Ten of the last 12 games between the Canucks and Kings have gone Under the total. The Under is 2-0-1 in Vancouver’s last three games.
