My Canucks analysis
This is the first time the Vancouver Canucks will play the second night of a back-to-back this season, but it’s a situation they fared well in last year, going 4-2-1 in seven chances.

Vancouver evened its record to 2-2 on its current 6-game homestand with a 4-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, just the third time in nine home games they have held an opponent to two goals or less.

This was much closer than the score indicated, as the Canucks again fell behind early before goals by Elias Pettersson and Erik Brannstrom had them up 2-1 in the third.

A pair of late, empty net goals by J.T. Miller and Teddy Blueger helped Vancouver cover the 1.5-goal puck line.

The Canucks move from the 30th-ranked team in goals per game in Chicago to the team sitting dead last in offense with the Nashville Predators potting just 2.28 per contest.

The Predators’ scoring woes have crushed what is a pretty good defensive side that ranks 12th in goals against, one spot better than Vancouver.

Nashville comes into this one with just one win over its last seven, including three straight losses on its current 5-game road trip.

They have just eight goals across those six losses, have been held to two or goals less in each, and have been shut out twice, including last game’s 2-0 loss to the Flames.

Vancouver isn’t the team Nashville wants to face to cure their current ills, either.

They have lost eight of the last 10 to the Canucks. However, if there is one bright spot, it’s that those two wins have come most recently at Rogers Arena. These haven’t been blowout contests, with the last four games decided by a single goal, Vancouver winning three of those.

The script should stay much the same on Sunday, considering Brock Boeser (upper body) will sit out a fourth straight game.

Fortunately for the Canucks, Nashville’s league-low offensive output won’t be able to capitalize on a Vancouver side that’s still trying to figure things out on home ice.

Canucks vs Predators Odds analysis

Vancouver has dropped two in a row to Nashville on home ice as the moneyline favorite.

The Canucks have hit the Over in three of their last four contests.

The Under has cashed in four of the last five head-to-head matchups between these teams.

Nashville has the fewest road wins in the Western Conference – at 1-4-3, they are tied with the Columbus Blue Jackets for the fewest road wins in the NHL.
