We’ve got 12 games on the NHL betting slate tonight, including a marquee matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins.
The B’s got the best of the Buds earlier in the week, and the NHL odds suggest they’ll win tonight too. However, Auston Matthews was kept in check on Monday, but I think he plays a much bigger role for Toronto tonight.

It’s time for another rivalry game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins. These two teams faced off just three days ago when the Bruins won 4-1 in Toronto.
The Leafs now hit the road seeking revenge — which may not be a bad thing considering they've fared better this season away from Scotiabank Arena with a +19 goal differential compared to just +9 on home ice. They lead the NHL with an average of 3.6 goals per game as the away side.
The Buds are hoping to tap into that road success tonight with a big two points on the line against a Boston team they’re chasing down in the standings.
Despite Monday’s result, the Bruins have been on tilt lately, losing six of their last 10 games while giving up 3.4 goals per game over that stretch. They’ve also been giving up a lot of shot volume, ranking 27th in shots allowed with 34 shots against per game.
Enter Auston Matthews. The league's leading goal scorer and shooting machine. Historically, Matthews wakes up for these big games against the Bruins. He’s scored in seven of the last nine meetings against the B’s, totaling 10 goals in those contests.
Additionally, goals have been coming in bunches for AM34 this season. Before last night’s OT winner, he had only scored once in his last five games. There’s a good chance that goal against Buffalo unleashed another barrage of goals in the coming games, and hopefully it continues tonight in Boston.
He’s getting plus money to score tonight, and generally, my rule of thumb is to take that action when I can get it.

The Leafs have been the best offensive team in hockey on the road this year, so I’m going to take the Over on their team total, which is set at 2.5 goals. They average 3.6 goals per game on the road, and the B’s have been leaky lately, allowing 3.4 goals per game.
For my final leg, I like this to be a close game tonight, so I’ll take the Leafs on the spread (+1.5). These two teams play so even and so hard against one another that three of the last four meetings between these two teams have gone to extra time. Plus, if the Leafs score three or more, as per leg two of this parlay, they should either win the game or keep it close.

The Maple Leafs come into tonight as the road underdog at +120 odds, with the Bruins favored at -145 home. Boston has cashed the moneyline win in six straight games against the Leafs. However, the Buds are a strong road team this year (18-6-6 record) and the more desperate team, as two points are near mandatory tonight if they want to keep in lockstep with the B’s in the playoff race.
The total for tonight’s game is set at 6.0 goals, shifting from the opening line of 6.5, and both sides are paying -110. I’d consider buying half a goal and taking the Under on the original 6.5 line at -145. Three of the last four meetings have seen five or fewer goals scored between the two clubs.
