After breaking their ugly five-game losing slide, the Edmonton Oilers look for back-to-back wins when they host the San Jose Sharks tonight at Rogers Place.
Edmonton has owned this head-to-head of late, winning eight of the last nine matchups, part of the reason why the Oil are short -345 moneyline favorites in the NHL odds.
My Oilers vs. Ducks predictions and free NHL picks have the home team taking advantage of a Ducks squad that has dropped three of its last four.

My Oilers analysis
Call it the 4 Nations funk, or maybe just a rough road trip against some East heavies, but the Edmonton Oilers ended their five-game road trip on a positive note, dropping the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1.
Edmonton’s defense finally tightened up enough to win, as the Oilers had allowed at least four goals in each of the previous losses, and owned the second-worst GAA in the league over that span at 4.5 goals per game.
They also didn’t showcase as a Top 10 offensive side either, as they posted just 2.83 goals, ranking 20th in the league.
Getting back home should be a help, as the Oilers haven’t been home in almost a month, and at 18-10-4, have the fourth-most home wins in the West. Edmonton is 6-3-1 over its last 10 at Rogers Place.
They’ll be squaring off against an Anaheim Ducks side that just got dusted 6-3 by the Chicago Blackhawks.
Anaheim enters this one six points back of the final Wild Card spot in the West, but they’ll need to hop four other teams to get into position.
It doesn’t help that the Ducks can’t get their offense going. Heading into tonight, they’re tied with Nashville for the lowest goal output in the NHL, at 2.53 goals per game.
These teams have split the regular-season series so far, with each team winning at home.
Anaheim has lost four straight in Edmonton, and save for this year’s 3-2 loss, every other game has been decided by at least two goals.
Overall, in the Oilers’ eight wins over the Ducks, seven have been by better than a 2-goal margin.
There’s not much value on the moneyline, but banking on the Oilers’ offense to win going away on home ice — after two appearances all of February — is worth a wager.
Oilers vs Ducks same-game parlay (SGP)
Starting a same-game parlay with the second-leading scorer in the league is never a bad idea, and Leon Draisaitl always appears to be cooking.
He picked up a pair of assists against Carolina, giving him points in 11 straight games, five of those being multi-point efforts.
In his last 10 against the Ducks, the German center has seven games of at least two points.
We’ll take a flier on Evan Bouchard lighting the lamp for the Oilers Tuesday after he tallied last game in the win over the Hurricanes.
Bouchard scored against Anaheim once already this season, and he has points in 11 of 13 career games against the Ducks.
Anaheim also has the seventh-worst penalty kill in the league, which should give Bouchard a few chances to load up his big shot on the powerplay.
