The Minnesota Wild and Pittsburgh Penguins are both trying to get back in the win column, but the Penguins have lost four straight games and eight out of their last nine.

The Wild have dropped out of the Top 3 in the Central Division and will need every point they can get if they plan on returning there. Read my Wild vs. Penguins predictions and NHL picks below for more.

My analysis
The Minnesota Wild’s offensive production has taken a hit without their star forward Kirill Kaprizov. Still, they have the advantage today over a Pittsburgh Penguins team that's been a total disaster. Since February 1, the Penguins have been one of the worst offensive teams in the NHL, only scoring 2.50 goals per game with a power play that's clicked at just a 13.3% success rate.

The Penguins are playing their third and final game of this mini road trip, which has not been kind to them thus far. The Pens have been outscored by a combined tally of 8-1 in the first two games. The goaltending has been arguably their weakest link; Alex Nedeljkovic and Joel Blomqvist have not been playing so hot.

Nedeljkovic is 2-5-1 in his last nine starts and has skated to a .876 SV% with a 3.23 GAA. Blomqvist on the other hand has gone 1-2-1 with a .843 SV% and a 4.30 GAA. In their defense, they don’t get much help in front of them. The Penguins give up 11.47 high-danger chances per 60 at 5-on-5.

The Wild have won two of their last three games and Filip Gustavsson has been excellent between the pipes in those contests. He started in all three games and has boasted a .940 SV% with a 1.68 GAA. The Wild certainly have the edge in goal today.

Offensively, Matt Boldy has stepped up for the Wild without Kaprizov, contributing three goals and six assists in his last 11 games. The Penguins have had a miserable year on the road and I don't expect it to get better this afternoon.

Penguins vs Wild same-game parlay (SGP)

Wild 3-way moneyline

Over 5.5

Matt Boldy Over 0.5 points

While Filip Gustavsson has been good in goal the last three games, this Penguins goaltenders cannot be relied upon. The previous meeting between these two teams was a high-scoring affair as the Wild skated to a 5-3 win in Pittsburgh, and with how the Penguins have been defending of late, the Wild should be able to score with ease.

Matt Boldy has points in back-to-back games and has been excellent since returning from the 4 Nations tournament, where he had a really good showing. The offense flows through Boldy without Kaprizov in the lineup and he's on pace to beat his career-best 69 points. Boldy has 54 points through 63 games and should be able to snag one more today.
