It's a seven-game slate on the ice tonight and finding great NHL player props is not hard to do with these matchups.
There are some line juggles in Vancouver that haven't been priced in yet, the New York Rangers are paying a wild amount of money to get stymied by the Winnipeg Jets, and the Boston Bruins offense is bound to turn things around and tonight might be a breakout night.
These are my three favorite NHL picks and prop bets for Tuesday, November 12.
NHL prop picks and best bets for November 12
- Suter o0.5 points (+128 at bet365)
- Rangers team total u2.5 (+140 at DraftKings)
- Zacha o0.5 points (-105 at DraftKings)
Picks made on 11-12 at 8:20 a.m. ET.
Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets
Prop bet #1: Pius Suter Over 0.5 points
With Brock Boeser out indefinitely, Pius Suter has jumped up to the Vancouver Canucks' top line and PP1 and gets to face the Calgary Flames, who are on the second game of a back-to-back after a 3-1 win last night over the Kings.
In Suter's first game up with the expanded role, he finished with a power-play goal and four shots on net with 18:29 of ice time. He was averaging around 14 minutes per game in his previous bottom-six role. This price is all over the place as some books are as short as +104, so getting on this early is advised as it will shorten up throughout the day.
If you're looking for a Suter stack, add JT Miller, who is his center and also plays on PP1. The pair to each record a point is a very heavy +222. Vancouver is a big -200 ML favorite so the top line should see a lot of offensive opportunities tonight.
Prop bet #2: Rangers team total Under 2.5 goals
This is a wild price for any team playing the Winnipeg Jets and Connor Hellebuyck. I was originally trying to find the best Under point prop on the New York Rangers but was wildly surprised to see this at anything Over +115.
The Jets have the best GAA in hockey at 2.07, which is 0.24 goals better than the next-best team (Rangers). They also have an above-average penalty kill and have given up just nine goals over their last six games, including two shutout wins.
The Rangers have not scored more than two regulation goals in four straight meetings and Hellebuyck will be at the top of his game as he opposes the only other truly elite goalie in hockey, Igor Shesterkin, as the pair make up the top-two betting favorites for the Vezina.
This game could have three total goals and if Winnipeg gets up early, it will suffocate 5-on-5 play. If you love goaltending and low-scoring, this is the game of the season so far.
Prop bet #3: Pavel Zacha Over 0.5 points
The Boston Bruins offense has finally gotten going as Jim Montgomery has settled on his top lines and that features Pavel Zacha centering David Pastrnak with the pair also on PP1. It might not be five goals a games of offense, but their recent six goals over two games is the biggest two-game total over their last eight.
There should be some positive regression coming from the Bruins as their offensive metrics show a team that should be scoring more than a half-goal per game higher than their current rate of 2.5. There has been some bad puck luck with this group's scoring but the turn is coming.
Zacha has three points over his last two games — all coming at 5-on-5. Playing with Pastrnak is the best place to be for a Boston skater and the matchup vs. the St. Louis Blues is advantageous, too.
The Blues' 3.47 GAA on the season is the sixth-worst mark in hockey and their penalty kill ranks in the bottom 10 in the league. St. Louis enters tonight having lost five of their last seven games and have given up whopping 27 goals in those five defeats. They're also fresh off an 8-1 loss to the Caps.
Considering the matchup, the likely regression, and his role on this offense, -105 is a great price to back Zacha for a point tonight.
