He knows first hand. They have been trying to legalize sports wagering for a few years now with the Feds saying no.

I stand corrected. Abbott had the "state" guard monitor the intentions of the Federal army............. and then asked the Federals for some cash to pay for the flood damage.

It's a fool who is against this. The party of the paranoid continues to snuff these laws out. Go figure.

Not long ago Rafael (AKA Ted) Cruz voted ,not just no, but Hell No on Federal Hurricane relief for the Northeast after it was battered by a hurricane. Now, the Pol ,also known as Ted, is asking for Federal relief for Texans who have been affected by recent weather events. Just weeks after ordering the Texas national Guard to monitor United States (Federal) troops during a training exercise, apparently to give Texans time to respond in case the Feds were actually planning an "invasion", Texas Governor Greg Abbot now wants the Obama administration to give Texas money to help with flood clean up. Real Smmmooooth.

Kansas Republicans’ Attempt To Set $25 ATM Limit For Poor Backfires; May Cost State $100 Million

You are right about business taxes and that is a joke, it is corporate welfare and yeah I dislike it even MORE than social welfare..and yeah some states (I think I read Kansas recently) kneel to corporate lobbyists and do their bidding and the social system suffers..same thing happens down here.
But the issue about setting guidelines for welfare use seems prudent and practical. If I were a politician I wouldnt have an ATM for welfare money..that is stupid. I would not support food stamp use for anything outside of the core nutritional group of food we want people to be eating..fruits, veggies, meat, you know food that is good for you..but corporate interests pollute food stamp monies so we allow people to buy soda and cheetos with it and that is a mistake.
I'd rather there be solid guidelines and restrictions since the money is given from the government, it seems reasonable the people supporting the funds should know there are guidelines and parameters for its use.
Understood. I assure You the percentage of welfare folks who are eating Lobster and shopping at Victoria's is really low. It is not a lifestyle that is desired by many. Some welfare fraud going on......yep. Enough that the state legislature that created a huge deficit with their supply side worship should be spending time worrying about it at this point in time. Nope. They have a bigger mess to fix. Completely eliminated taxes on 53,000 subsidized farmers. Welfare being spent on seafood is not the problem in Kansas. And lingerie ? Seriously? I grew up in the rust belt. Plenty of broke behind people. I can't think of 1 welfare girl I'd want to see in a G-string. |

Kansas Republicans’ Attempt To Set $25 ATM Limit For Poor Backfires; May Cost State $100 Million
in Politics This is typical Republican playbook. All Republican legislature slashes business taxes to zero after a couple supply side junkies testify that the resulting revenue boom will be huge. Instead revenue tanks, budget deficits balloon, schools get hit with cuts and the people are wondering what happened.
Aha! pass a bunch of meaningless bills about welfare and the populace is not mad about the path the all Republican state gov't put them on. Instead, the Holy Rollin people of kansas are pissed because a bunch of welfare leeches blew up the state budget with too many trips to Victoria's Secret and the Lion Den. Just the fact that people fall for this crap is mind boggling. |

Banned them from buying lobster as well. My sister (staunch conservative) buys into these ploys. She hears something like this and assumes that Welfare checks are being spent on lobster and cruise ship gambling. LMAO. Keep drinking the cool aid.

I'm feeling sorry for you ..so, I'll give you a little help ...the Obama administration has backed off the claim that premiums will decrease at all. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius testified before Congress that premiums will not increase as much as they did in the years prior to the Obamacare implementation. In my book, not increasing as much does not amount to saving $2,500 a year ...
C'mon Slim. You said Obamacare cost are crippling the middle class, as if The relationship between healthcare cost and the middle class struggling didn't start until Obamacare. Complete BS. |
