My analysis
Although Reese Olson may be just 2-8 on the season, the Detroit Tigers starter boasts a 3.32 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP entering tonight's matchup against the Cincinnati Reds.
The right-hander has allowed more than two earned runs in just four of his 16 starts this season, and despite hitting a bit of a speed bump a month ago with 12 ER in two appearances, has bounced back nicely by allowing just four ER across his last three outings. Olson has limited his opponents to 13 hits in those 18 1/3 innings of work, coughing up no more than five hits in one start.
Meanwhile, Reds hurler Carson Spiers has done a great job since joining their starting rotation. He’s gone six full innings in each of his three starts, boasting a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 14/3.
Neither the Tigers (4.09 runs per game) nor the Reds (4.30) rank in the top half of the league in scoring this season, yet we’re getting a high total of nine tonight. It’s already come down from 9.5, so get in on the action while you can.
