49ers vs Bills picks
49ers vs Bills expert picks & predictions
Pick: 49ers team total Under 19.5 (-135 at bet365)
Oh, the weather outside is frightful...
Josh Inglis doesn't like the banged-up San Francisco 49ers offense's chances with or without inclement weather. The snowy conditions at Orchard Park have only compounded concern around their attack, especially after QB Brock Purdy was limited at practice and didn't even throw.
"Now add in the most important factor facing this water-downed San Francisco offense — the weather.
The words severe weather are getting thrown around on Sunday night in Orchard Park, and that means freezing temperatures, 20+ mph winds, and possible snow. This will be a big home-field advantage for the Bills, especially if Purdy can’t get healthy and Brandon Allen is back under center."
Josh isn't alone with this angle. Jason Logan also has this game underlined in his NFL Week 13 weather report.
"Snow hit Buffalo all weekend, with a 54% chance of snow showers on deck for Sunday’s 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff. Those will continue into the second half when snow is shown to lighten to flurries. It doesn’t appear to be enough to accumulate on the heated field at Highmark Stadium, but it could limit visibility downfield."
Scoring looks like it will come at a premium, especially through the air.
49ers vs Bills prop pick
Pick: Brock Purdy Under 224.5 passing yards (-110 at bet365)
Following suit, Rohit Ponnaiya is fading the 49ers offense by hitting the Under on Purdy's passing yards. As Josh noted, Purdy isn't 100% but he is expected to start.
The odds are stacked against him even beyond the weather and his own injury status.
"San Francisco's aerial attack hasn't looked the same since losing Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a torn ACL in Week 7. In addition, the offensive line will have a tough time giving Purdy time to throw with All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams and left guard Aaron Banks both out with injuries."
And if you're looking for another reason to hammer the Under, check the opponent.
"The Buffalo Bills also hold opposing QBs to 210.0 passing yards per game, with that number shrinking to 179.6 at Highmark Stadium."
Josh Allen prop pick
Pick: Josh Allen anytime touchdown (+125 at bet365)
On the opposite side of things, Bills QB Josh Allen is the man to tail... just not through the air.
Sam Farley expects the mobile signal caller to call his own number and hit the end zone.
"His big body is perfect for short-yardage and red-zone situations, and Allen's ability to run the ball has been a key part of his game since entering the NFL — scoring 58 touchdowns with his feet. Last season’s total of 15 was a career-high, and while he might not hit that number, it’s still part of his game he regularly uses in big moments.
With wintry conditions in the forecast and rain likely touching down as well, the passing game on both sides could be hampered, giving Allen even more reason to tuck and run.
49ers vs Bills SNF same-game parlay
Like Sam, Josh is backing Allen to score with his feet in his SGP.
"This looks like a perfect time for the Bills to dominate the TOP with a healthy running game that features three rested backs. Allen will continue to do what he needs to do for the No. 1 seed in the AFC, and that means rushing in his own TD in bad conditions, which is on brand for December Allen."
