The Winnipeg Jets are sitting atop the Western Conference and looking to return to the win column with a road victory over the Utah Hockey Club at Delta Center on Monday, January 20.

Utah is struggling and missing a pair of key players, while Winnipeg is ripe to rebound from its 3-1 loss last time out. My top Jets vs. Utah Hockey Club predictions and NHL picks expect Winnipeg to pick up the win in Salt Lake City tonight.

My Jets analysis

There haven’t been many slip-ups for the Western Conference-leading Winnipeg Jets, and they face a struggling Utah Hockey Club that’s reeling along a 3-8-2 slide.

Utah has surrendered the third-most goals per game (3.46) and second-most goals per 60 minutes at 5-on-5 (2.95) during the stretch, and No. 1 goalie Karel Vejmelka hasn’t been sharp with a run-of-the-mill .893 SV% and 3.04 GAA across his nine starts during the run.

Considering the Jets pace the NHL in goal differential (+52), and their own No. 1 Connor Hellebuyck is hanging with the betting favorites in the Hart Trophy odds, I don’t think these Winnipeg odds are steep enough.

The Utah Hockey Club is also likely to be down No. 1 defenseman Mikhail Sergachev (upper body) again tonight, and he paces Utah blueliners in minutes per game (25:45) and leads the way with a 53.2 CF%.

It’s a big hit to the lineup, with leading goalscorer Dylan Guenther (lower body) also on injured reserve and out indefinitely.

Winnipeg returns to the win column tonight.
