Penguins vs Flyers predictions
The Pittsburgh Penguins came out of the holiday break hot with three straight wins. However, they've lost two of three since then and hit the road Monday night.
The Philadelphia Flyers have been one of the more surprising teams this season but are struggling a bit recently. Saturday's win over Calgary ended a four-game losing streak with the Flyers now at 2-3-3 in their last eight.
Flyers forward Travis Konecny is on a tear right now despite the team's recent struggles. He is riding a seven-game point streak with 10 points (five goals, five assists) in that span. Dating back to November 28, Konecny has 21 points in 18 games and was held off the scoresheet just thrice.
Konecny is now up to 36 points in 39 games this season, including a two-point game against these Penguins back on December 4 at home. He's recorded a point in 25 of 39 games this season, including 11 multi-point games.
It was Konecny’s shorthanded goal in the third period on Saturday afternoon that was the difference in the 3-2 win. The Flyers’ penalty kill has been a major strength this season with a league-leading 11 shorthanded goals.
“We don’t even know where we’re going sometimes, we’re reading,” Konecny said of the penalty kill. “So, I think it makes it pretty difficult. We’re still trying to kill the penalty, but we’re looking for opportunities.”
Playing in all situations certainly helps Konecny as he’s out there on the top line at 5-on-5, up a man, and down a man. Look for him to be active tonight against the Penguins at home.
My best bet: Travis Konecny Over 0.5 points (-160 at FanDuel)

Penguins vs Flyers same-game parlay
Travis Konecny has been leading the way for the Flyers and we expect that to continue on Monday night. He’s our best bet to record a point and he’s anchoring our same-game parlay as well.
It’s going to be a Flyers-themed SGP as we’re going a bit safer with the final two legs, starting with the Under 7.5.
Both the Flyers and Penguins have trended heavily toward the Under this season. The Under is 23-14-2 in Philadelphia games and 21-14-3 in Pittsburgh games. The first two meetings between these teams went past regulation with the Flyers winning 4-3 (SO) and 2-1 (OT).
The Under 6.5 is probably safe enough, but we’re going up to Under 7.5 in case of another 4-3 final.
Finally, we’re closing out the parlay with another safer pick of Flyers +1.5. Philadelphia should at least keep it close against Pittsburgh with a chance of winning the game outright as well.
