The Detroit Red Wings hit the road to take on the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center, with NHL odds labeling the hosts as the favorites for tonight's tilt.
Both teams are coming off blowout losses with Detroit losing 5-1 to the Senators and Dallas getting trounced 6-1 by the Golden Knights.
With both teams looking to bounce back, I've taken to the NHL player props market to look for someone who may have extra motivation to shine tonight. Find out who in my free NHL picks for the Red Wings vs. Stars on Monday, December 11.

Red Wings vs Stars predictions
The Detroit Red Wings have surprised a lot of people this season and that continued with the signing of Patrick Kane. The former Blackhawks star made his Detroit debut on Thursday, and despite the Wings losing both of those games, Kane has added a much-needed presence in the top six.
Kane scored the Wings' lone goal in the loss to Ottawa as the veteran winger fired seven shots on net (nine attempts). This came after he put up three shots on goal (six attempts) in his season debut.
Detroit lost captain Dylan Larkin to injury in Saturday’s loss and it wouldn’t be surprising if he has to miss at least Monday’s game. The Red Wings could also be without David Perron due to a suspension as the winger stepped up after a bad hit on Larkin.
That just means more responsibility and more shooting opportunities for Patty.
Kane has averaged Over three shots per game in his career (3.33 to be exact) and his line is still going to be set at 2.5 for a bit here. Take advantage of that while you can.
Kane wants to make his presence felt and has 15 shot attempts (10 on goal) through two games. He should keep that up tonight in Dallas.
My best bet: Patrick Kane Over 2.5 shots on goal (-150 at DraftKings)

Red Wings vs Stars same-game parlay
I'm going to stay with the Detroit theme here and take Red Wings +1.5 as my next leg. Detroit moneyline is a bit tempting, but the +1.5 puck line is the better play.
Detroit is 14-8-4 this season and of those eight regulation losses, three were by one goal. Therefore, the Red Wings have covered the +1.5 puck line in 21 of their 29 games this season. The Dallas Stars have also played a lot of close games this season with over half of their wins (eight of 15) coming by one goal.
I'm wrapping up this SGP with Over 6.5. Both teams trend to the Over this season with Detroit at 15-10-1 and Dallas at 15-11-0.
The Red Wings score the second-most goals per game (3.73) with the Stars (3.35) in the Top 10 as well. Both teams are in the middle of the pack offensively while averaging just over three goals per contest.

Red Wings vs Stars moneyline and Over/Under analysis
The Stars opened at -200 and are still around there at most books between -195 and -210. Meanwhile, the Red Wings are as high as +175 after opening at +165.
The total opened at six but has moved up to 6.5 across the board, and I'm siding with the underdog Red Wings and the Over 6.5 tonight in Dallas.
