The Ottawa Senators and Edmonton Oilers are both looking to snap two-game losing streaks when they meet at Canadian Tire Centre on Tuesday, November 19.

Ottawa has been sound on home ice, and No. 1 goalie Linus Ullmark is set for a bounceback showing, so our Oilers vs. Senators predictions and top NHL picks are siding with the home team.

My Senators analysis
A quick peek at the past two losses for the Ottawa Senators shouldn’t sound any alarms. The Sens ran over the Flyers in losing fashion last Thursday before dropping a daunting road bout to the rolling Hurricanes.

Ottawa has also had an opportunity for a mini reset while the Edmonton Oilers are playing the second leg of a back-to-back set following a 3-0 loss to the lowly Canadiens on Monday. Edmonton is also playing its third road game in four nights.

The gap in 5-on-5 between the two teams is small, too. Ottawa has been a force with a sixth-ranked 53.8 Corsi For percentage and fifth-ranked 53.9 expected goals percentage that slot just below Edmonton’s respective third-ranked 56.3% and second-ranked 55.5% marks.

The Sens have also been better on special teams with a sixth-ranked 27.6 power-play percentage and 20th-ranked 78.0 penalty-kill percentage, while the Oilers discouragingly rank 24th with a 16.3 PP% and 31st with a 66.7 PK%.

The real draw is the goaltending matchup, though. Ottawa No. 1 Linus Ullmark is rested and has allowed two goals or fewer in six of 10 starts this season. I also value his solid .910 SV% and 2.29 GAA across three home games because those numbers include Thursday’s 5-4 overtime loss when he only stopped 14 of 19 shots.

Ottawa is also a solid 5-2-1 on home ice for the year.

In the opposite crease, patience is running out with Stuart Skinner. He’s losing his grip on the No. 1 gig and has surrendered 3+ goals in 10 of 12 starts and sports an .851 SV% and 3.61 GAA across five road outings. Now, that’s a reason to sound the alarm.

Senators vs Oilers Odds analysis

There's been a big move to the Ottawa side of this moneyline, and I obviously agree with it. The Sens opened at +119, and I also wouldn’t be surprised to see the number continue to move in their direction ahead of puck drop.

This total has also dropped from the opening 6.5 to 6 as of Tuesday morning. The Over is now carrying the higher vig, and I would expect there to be a consensus 6-goal offering following the Pinnacle move.
