Yessir, I am agreeing with you.  That IF the wall itself does not slow it enough, then you would need other measures -- maybe guards.  But it is a different dynamic when you are keeping people in and keeping people out.  It does not seem that way at first glance, but it is.

 When you were in East Berlin 4 or 5 times and got out every time without climbing the wall.Did you not climb the wall because you thought you couldn't make it over,or was it because you feared getting shot while you were trying to climb over?Which deterrent were you worried about?

Climbing the wall was the very last resort for me in my situations.  3 times because I was bringing someone else back with me and they were older and it was far too risky if climbing was necessary.  So, I never even considered it.  There were some lesser guarded areas away from the death strip area in the forest but I really was determined that was very unlikely to be used.  I used fake papers and used them 4 times and a tunnel once because of a strict lockdown at the time.  But by far, the guards were the biggest deterrent I worried about.  Absolutely, I knew they would shoot you if they caught you climbing.  They also might do it if they caught you crossing with fake papers.

The difference is the USA would only be deterring folks and turning them back, etc; they would not be shooting them.  They just are not doing this now.  A wall is just a solution for lazy politicians I think that will not enforce their policies.

Wallstreetcapper is right.  According to Cato institute, Trump didn't actually accomplish much on immigration.  Legal immigration declined but illegal immigration remained steady and he left behind a huge backlog of asylum cases.  His wall didn't work as illegal immigration increased after construction.  He failed promise to increase deportations.  As a result, population of illegal immigrants remain almost the same as when he took office.  In rejection of Trump, public opinion has shifted to favor more legal immigration because of crude zero tolerance policy.

Trump was lucky to inherit a strong economy from Obama.  ISIS was defeated during Obama administration to allow Trump to later claim victory.  Trade war failed to change China's unfair practices while American consumers and businesses ended up paying higher prices.  Other presidents wisely didn't move US embassy to Jerusalem because of the risk of inciting more conflicts in the Middle east.  Trump's unnecessary tax cuts failed to pay for themselves but instead worsen budget deficits and federal debt.

And no,at no point would only the key parts need to be guarded,they would all have to be guarded at all times for it to be effective.For your home to be safe,do you only have to lock certain doors at some points in time?

Yes, but why do 'locked' doors mostly work?  Why lock them at all?  Because they are by and large a huge deterrent.  Sure, some folks will still force their way in.  But it works and it slows them down and for sure cuts down on the number of robbers, as opposed to if you did not lock your door--or if you did not even shut your doors.

I am quite sure a lot of people are hiring illegals, some maybe unknowingly.

But that is my problem with the Right -- they also take advantage of this.  

You are correct -- both sides hire them.

If you FINE an employer a HUGE amount the first time they are caught AND then JAIL them the second time -- I promise you they will stop hiring them.

Again, the fortitude is just not there to stop it.

 It wasn't "found to be nothing by Mueller".As a matter of fact this is exactly what Mueller's investigation said

The Mueller Report states that if the Special Counsel's Office felt they could clear the president of wrongdoing,they would of said so.Instead,the report explicitly states that it "does not exonerate" the President and explains that the Office of Special Counsel "accepted" the Department of Justice policy that a sitting President cannot be indicted. 

So the only reason trump wasn't indicted was because you can't indict a sitting President,not because they found nothing.So as usual your statement that it "was found to be nothing by Mueller",is complete bullsh*t.The investigation produced 37 indictments,and seven guilty pleas or convictions,or as you say "it produced nothing".

Yes, I am sure they know him better than I do.  I am not disputing that.  
What I would question is are they saying this because of Trump or because of his policies?

It is because of Trump.  

For example, no real Republican thinks that Pence would do as well on policies as Trump did; but all would agree that Pence is the better person.  

This thread is about the illegal problem and not if I like Trump.  I prefer Trump’s policies on illegals as opposed to Biden or any Democrat — or for now, any Republican.

I don’t remember you asking me this before.  It does not apply to me or any discussion I have had about Trump on here.

But I will give you a roundabout answer I guess.

Wouid that be the only choice and parameters?

Is it Trump found guilty or Biden?  Is it Trump found guilty or another Republican?

What charges would you see him being guilty of that would make someone not vote for him?  Are you asking if a person would stay home and not vote at all?  Are you asking if someone would vote for Biden instead of Trump for that reason alone?

I would have to know EXACTLY what charges you think would sway someone from voting for him?

Obviously, he is the most audited person in history with nothing found yet.  
Obviously, he is having drummed up charges about the Jan 6th situation brought up.

If they find him guilty of something that SHOULD make folks disqualify him — then I would hope the Republicans would find another candidate and not put the voters in that situation. 

But from what I have seen so far — and I have not studied it in detail, because it does not interest me that much — I wouid say absolutely, yes. 
The reason is I have not seen enough of a disqualification for me.  The evidence would have to be better presented to make the case.  Maybe it will be.  

BUT the question to you is if Trump is found not guilty would you ever consider voting for him?

Both parties should be running other candidates this time. They both had FOUR years to get better candidates and did not do it. 

So, you have to choose the guy that will do the best for you and for your country and that has been proven to be Trump.  Maybe they will give the voters better choices soon but it does not look like it.

Yessir.  The dynamics are somewhat different because the goals are different and the demands and requirements and focus are different.  For example, you are on the same side of the border wall to start with.  More complex than that. But it changes it quite a bit. 

For sure I agree with that part of it.  I contend the wall itself would reduce illegals enough.  But if more reduction is needed the other deterrents would be required. 
We do agree on that.

It is the dynamics of how you guard it and maintain it then, etc.  

No sir.  Times change and people change.  Time was you did not need to lock your doors even at night.  You did not need to take your keys out of your car.  
Now you need to do that for sure most places. 

But you have a door to stop people.  If you do not lock it during the day — folks usually don’t just open it and come in. They knock and ask to come in. 
That is the first barrier.  The second barrier would be locking the door.  The third barrier would be you inside preventing it or calling the police, etc. 

The point is if the barrier you have now — an open door — is not a barrier enough, then you have to fortify it.  Start with enforcing policies, deportations.  Then if that doesn’t work a wall might be needed.  If that doesn’t work well enough then a guarded wall and a more fortified wall might be needed etc.

This is exactly what I am saying. Parts of the wall would not be needed to be guarded.  Maybe it might change over time and a less traveled area might be needing to be guarded more. 

Just like I said people used to not lock their doors but times and people change. 
Some cities you need several locks on the doors.  

There are studies that show just having a ADT, or whatever they are, security system sign in place is deterrent enough.  You do NOT even have to have an alarm system or have it turned on.  Robbers just move to an easier target. 
So, yes if you do not lock your door it is easier to enter illegally.
