created a topic If the heat squad played for Charlotte would they be rated? in NBA Betting Some simple facts; the names don't matter. Each team in NBA has a best player or two, followed by some also rans. With the exception of OKL who have 4 or 5 stars, and each of Boston and Spurs who seem to be teams greater than the sum of their parts. So why do we expect the Heat to do so well? It's not like they are a Dream Team who can't gel. As I said they have 2 or 3 top players just like most other teams. The rest are average. I don't understand it. Is it the Heat's name? What? It is the same as betting $260 on Boston -1 when your book offers the line. If they lose the game you still lose $200. Same same! In his calculation the -1 line would be $260 to win $225. It is as hard-fought and physical as many other sports but very little physical contact is allowed. Find me another sport where there are so many decisions that materially affect the outcome of a game. In soccer there may be one or two big decisions. It's (generally) about the players. Last time I did this I got Rockies + 1.5 at Pads for +145 rather than -145. They were losing 1-3 in the top of the ninth. They managed 3 hits in the 9th without scoring a run, including a one-out hit which would have scored a run except it hit the runner at first base!
