A's vs Rangers Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today’s MLB Game

With the Rangers' bats reeling, particularly vs. lefties, A's starter JP Sears can clear his strikeout prop by virtue of pitching deep enough that his middling K-rate isn't a problem.

The Texas Rangers limp home after a tough, seven-game road trip to meet the red-hot Athletics for Game 1 of their three-game series at Globe Life Field.

Lefty JP Sears tamed the Texas bats in his last outing, and my A's vs. Rangers predictions expect an encore performance from the southpaw tonight.

Read on for my MLB picks for Monday, April 28.

A's vs Rangers prediction

My A's vs Rangers best bet: JP Sears Over 4.5 strikeouts (+126 at Caesars)

A's southpaw JP Sears has twirled his way to consecutive victories, and his newly improved slider has been effective enough to fan five or more in three of his previous five starts.

Sears has been especially effective away from Athletics land, boasting a 2.37 ERA while holding opposing hitters to a .200/.253/.314 slash line across 19 innings.

Typically, I wouldn’t hit submit on his Over strikeout prop, but we’re getting an excellent price for a market Sears has eclipsed in three of his previous five starts, including his last start against these Texas Rangers.

Texas bats are performing below the MLB average in multiple underlying metrics. Their high strikeout rate (26%) against lefties and .222 batting average with runners in scoring position suggests Sears should pitch deep enough to strike out five Rangers tonight.

Caesars QuickPick: Our A's vs Rangers same-game parlay (SGP)

JP Sears Over 4.5 strikeouts

A's F5 moneyline

JJ Bleday 1+ total bases

I like Sears to whiff enough Rangers for the A's to win the first five innings, and OF JJ Bleday should be a reason why.

Bleday has at least one hit in three of his previous five games and a 1.119 OPS and .571 BABIP against southpaws, which will translate well against Patrick Corbin

Corbin faces an Athletics lineup raking a 128 wRC+ against left-handed arms, and that's why I’m backing the A’s F5 moneyline leg.
