Welcome to a full slate of midweek baseball, meaning I have plenty of MLB player props to choose from.

Juan Soto is set for a favorable matchup tonight, and I also like Dylan Cease and Blake Snell to excel on the mound.

Let’s take a closer look at my MLB picks for Wednesday, April 2.

Best MLB player props today

MLB props for April 2

Juan Soto Over 1.5 total bases (+105 at Caesars)

Juan Soto is off to a solid start for the New York Mets, boasting a couple of extra base hits and a .455 on-base percentage over his first five games, and he’ll have the opportunity for a big day against Miami Marlins starter Connor Gillispie.

Gillispie made his first career start on March 28, allowing four runs on four hits over five innings of work against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Soto has historically mashed right-handed pitching to the tune of a .293 batting average and .999 OPS, and he should get at least a couple of bats against Gillispie. He's got a great chance of picking up an extra-base hit to clear the Over 1.5 bases in one swing.

Dylan Cease Over 6.5 strikeouts (+136 at FanDuel)

San Diego Padres' starter Dylan Cease had a rough start to the year, allowing three runs over just 4.1 innings of work against the Atlanta Braves on March 28. Yet, even with that short outing, he still recorded seven strikeouts.

That’s nothing new for Cease, who has been one of the best strikeout pitchers in the majors for years, averaging at least 10.6 Ks per nine innings in every season since 2021. Tonight, he faces a pretty average Cleveland Guardians lineup that has struck out 8.0 times per game to start the year.

Cease should get to go deeper in this outing, and even if he doesn’t last into the late innings, he’s perfectly capable of hitting the Over on his strikeout total in five frames or less.

Blake Snell to record a win (+100 at DraftKings)

Blake Snell got a win in his first start of the year, a solid five innings of work against the Detroit Tigers on March 27. That’s not a huge surprise, as the Los Angeles Dodgers are 7-0 to start the year, with their starters picking up three wins in the early going.

The two-time Cy Young winner now gets a comfortable home start against the Atlanta Braves, who won’t have Ronald Acuna Jr. back until sometime later this spring — and are also without Jurickson Profar for 80 games due to a PED suspension.

Snell should be able to mow down this underpowered Atlanta lineup tonight, and the Dodgers' offense will likely put up enough runs against Braves starter Bryce Elder to get him an early lead. I’m happy taking even money on Snell to get the win.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
