With the playoffs coming into view, it’s no surprise to see the Boston Celtics going through the gears, and that spells trouble for the 15-win Utah Jazz tonight.
Boston shouldn’t meet much resistance here as it goes for a fifth straight victory, and my Jazz vs Celtics predictions signal a fast start for the defending champs.

My analysis
The Boston Celtics have rebounded impressively after blowing their latest showdown with the Cleveland Cavaliers at the end of February, and wins over the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers provided a reminder of how tough this team will be to beat four times out of seven in the postseason.
Tonight’s test against the Utah Jazz looks far less taxing. I expect the Celtics to show up offensively and I’m picking Jaylen Brown to carry on where he left off against the Lakers on Saturday.
Brown had 31 points on 13-for-25 shooting that night, including three triples, and he’s averaging 26 ppg through his past six outings.
There’s a real chance that Boston rests Jayson Tatum here, keeping him fresh for Wednesday’s battle with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and that would unleash Brown with more opportunities to attack. Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis are also on the injury report.
Brown’s 3-point shooting has been up and down — still just 33% this season — but the overall volume is there. He’s jacked up 48 shots across his last two contests and 21 or more in four of his past six.
The tanking Jazz gave up 126 points in Philadelphia last night, and they’ll largely rely on backups again. That’s not going to cut it against a potent Celtics offense.

The Celtics have hit the 1H moneyline in 73 of their last 100 games, and they’ve covered the 1H spread in 11 of their past 12. I’m riding that trend and laying an 8.5-point margin with the hosts.
We’ve seen Boston get off to a flier at TD Garden, including the 25-3 start against the Cavaliers at the end of last month, and I see Utah being buried by a barrage of 3-pointers in the first half here. And if Joe Mazzulla shuffles the deck, we’ve seen the damage that Payton Pritchard can do in an expanded role.
Derrick White going Over 3.5 rebounds stands out as good value, especially if the Celtics are light on frontcourt regulars to clean the glass.
White, Boston’s Mr. Reliable, grabbed five boards against L.A. on the weekend and averaged 4.5 rebounds in February. With the Jazz sitting in the bottom half of the league in field-goal percentage, there should be plenty of rebounding work available for the hosts tonight, and White has good size for a guard.
