Nets vs Cavaliers Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Painting Paris Red

The NBA travels to Paris for a tilt between the Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers today. Jarrett Allen has picked up the slack since Evan Mobley's injury and looks to remain the focal point against his former team, the struggling Nets.

Who’s ready for afternoon hoops across the pond? The Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers tip off from Paris, France this afternoon, as part of the NBA’s Global Games series.

Closing in on the midway point of the season, Cleveland is currently sitting sixth in a playoff position. They are 3-point favorites vs Brooklyn in the NBA odds.

The Nets, meanwhile, have dropped six of their last seven, and are hanging onto the 10th and final play-in spot.

How does this matchup translate on an international stage? Read on for my free Nets vs Cavaliers NBA picks for Thursday, January 11.

Nets vs Cavaliers odds

Nets vs Cavaliers predictions

Despite injuries to starters Darius Garland (jaw) and Evan Mobley (knee), the Cleveland Cavaliers are playing solid ball, ripping off three straight wins and eight of their last 11.

With Mobley out until February while recovering from knee surgery, Jarrett Allen has maximized the opportunity, and been a beast in the Cavs’ frontcourt. He’s coming off one of his most complete games of the season, leading the team with 29 points and 16 rebounds in a close 117-115 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

Allen has picked up seven straight double-doubles, averaging 21 points and 15.7 rebounds over that stretch.

While the schedule has been littered with some also-rans like the Spurs, Wizards (twice), and Raptors, Allen showed out against the Bucks with a season-high 30 points and 12 boards. He had a monster 24-point, 23-rebound game in a win over the Mavericks and also dropped 19 and 17 in a win over the suddenly resurgent Bulls.

This will be his first meeting against his former team this season, though the Cavs did beat BK in the season opener 114-113, a game he missed.

Allen has been a force against the Nets since arriving in Cleveland. Perhaps it’s the motivation of going against the club that traded you, but in the last two seasons, he has recorded a double-double in all five matchups, averaging 13.6 points and 12 boards.

With his level-up play and status as the current undisputed frontcourt lead option, the 28.5 point-rebound combo is pretty enticing. It’s a number he’s crossed five of the last seven games.

My best bet: Jarrett Allen Over 28.5 points + rebounds (-120 at DraftKings)

Donovan Mitchell Over 3.5 made threes

Don’t let the stink of Donovan Mitchell’s shooting performance against the Spurs deter you from tacking him onto this SGP. He’s coming off a 17-point, nine-assist game against the Spurs, with a glaring 1-for-10 mark from 3-point range.

Be thankful, because he’d likely be around the 4.5 make line if not for this blip on an otherwise sharp shooting stroke from downtown of late. Before the Spurs game, Mitchell had gone 13-for-26 from beyond the arc in his previous three and has drilled at least four triples in six of the last eight.

And he seems to always splash with frequency against the Nets. In the season opener, he hit 4-for-10 en route to 27 points. That gives him at least four 3-point hits in eight of his last 12 against Brooklyn dating back to the 20-21 season. And the four games with fewer than four makes? He hit three in each of them.

Finally, let’s target the total. The Nets have been spiraling, with just three wins in their last 11, and their defense has abandoned them. They have gone eight straight games allowing at least 120 points. Cleveland surrenders 111.5 points per game, the sixth-best total in hoops. If their averages travel to Europe, Nets vs. Cavs should be an Over with points to spare.

Nets vs Cavaliers spread and Over/Under analysis

Despite their recent opposite trajectories, the spread has not gone higher than three points, with some sites offering the Cavs at -2.5.

Despite the Cavs winning three straight against the Nets, Brooklyn has covered the spread in three of the last four matchups.

Brooklyn is 19-17-1 against the spread on the year, while Cleveland is 17-19-0 ATS.

The total has touched as high as 227.5 points, though you can still find some sites a full three points lower. Most books have settled in at 225.5. The Over has hit in seven of the last 10 head-to-heads.
