Get set for non-conference college basketball action on a Sunday afternoon when the Brown Bears visit Allen Fieldhouse for a matchup with the No. 8 Kansas Jayhawks.

The Jayhawks have been playing lethargic basketball recently, but my Brown vs. Kansas predictions expect the Jayhawks’ lethargy to end today on their home court.

Read on for my college basketball picks for Sunday, December 22.

Brown vs Kansas prediction

My analysis

The Brown Bears visit Lawrence, Kansas playing with confidence. They’ve won five straight and won’t be intimidated by the No. 8 Kansas Jayhawks.

It’s been a dozen days since Brown knocked off Rhode Island in double OT. The Bears group is 2-0 on the road, but Allen Fieldhouse is a difficult barn to play in, and Kansas is supposed to be good.

Kansas has dropped two of their last three, and nothing short of a blowout victory will do for the hungry Kansas fans. The Jayhawks have lost two of their previous three, and nothing short of a blowout over Brown will suffice.

Brown is a talented group of young men, but Kansas should bury them. The Jayhawks' defense has been hit or miss, but they should have an easier time defending against a slow-paced Brown group relying on the triple for 35% of its points.

The Jayhawks’ offense stalled in losses to Creighton and Missouri but came alive last Saturday against NC State. Brown doesn’t defend well, and a frustrated Kansas offense could regain its offensive spark against an undersized Brown defense.

The Bears drain 35% of their offense from downtown, which has been a weakness for the Jayhawks’ defense. While this will not hurt Kansas at all, it will cause the game total to exceed 144 points.

Brown vs Kansas same-game parlay

Over 144.5

Kansas team total Over 93.5

Kansas -24.5

I expect Kansas to show Ohio State Buckeyes coach Ryan Day how to “hang a 100 on ‘em”, and I suspect Brown won’t put up much of a defensive fight today.

Today’s matchup will be faster than what Brown is used to. That will allow more possessions for Kansas to do more offensive damage to the smaller Bears.

The Jayhawks have dropped two out of their last three. They’ll be hungry to smash someone, and I expect them to come out blazing, score at least 94 points, and cover the number at home for the fourth consecutive time.
