Lamar Jackson Picks, Predictions, and Best Bets for Monday Night Football

The one constant for the Baltimore Ravens has always been their ability to run the football and this season's been no different. However, our Lamar Jackson Monday Night Football picks believe he'll take to the air and rack up the yards vs. a weak Bucs secondary.

My analysis

The Baltimore Ravens travel to Tampa Bay on Monday to face a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team with the same 4-2 record as them. The Ravens top the AFC North despite losing their opening two games of the season. Over the past month, we’ve seen the Ravens go on a tear and win four straight games.

They’re playing at an incredibly high level with Derrick Henry running over defenders and Lamar Jackson firmly putting himself back into the MVP conversation. In our search for the best Lamar Jackson prop for MNF, there’s one that really leaps out, backing the quarterback to throw Over 229.5 passing yards.

Firstly, let’s talk about the Bucs’ defense. They’re ranked 11th in defensive DVOA and have done reasonably well in stuffing the run. Against the pass it’s been a different story, they’ve had success in stopping QBs from passing on them in the red zone, with an average of just one TD allowed per game. However, they have given up major yardage throughout games, giving up an average of 252.3 passing yards per game, the fourth-highest amount in the NFL.

In the past fortnight, we’ve seen Kirk Cousins tear them to shreds with a 509-yard, four-touchdown masterclass. While Cousins is recognized as a good quarterback, the same can’t be said for Spencer Rattler, with the Saints rookie QB managing to put 243 passing yards on them just last week.

That bodes well for Lamar Jackson here and you don’t need need to be worried about the Ravens' ability to run the ball. So far this season Jackson has averaged 254.8 passing yards per game, some way above the line of 229.5 here. He’s covered this total in four of six games and in the past two weeks, he’s had his best weeks of the season in terms of passing, with 671 yards and five touchdown passes.

The way that the Ravens can threaten both through the air and along the ground, is only helping Jackson put up big numbers. Teams are so scared of Henry and Jackson’s rushing ability that it’s opening up the passing game. Jackson is one of the quarterbacks who offers the most threat with play action and it’s been working excellently for both him and the Ravens across this early portion of the season.

Lamar Jackson MNF same-game parlay

Over 229.5 passing yards

Zay Flowers Over 5.5 receptions

Derrick Henry anytime TD

We’re also going to take Over 5.5 receptions for Zay Flowers. Flowers is the best pass catcher on the Ravens’ roster and has cemented his status as the number-one receiving option. He’s averaged eight targets per game this season and across the past two weeks, we’ve seen him get even more involved with 16 catches on 21 targets. If Jackson has a big day with his arm then it’s more than likely Flowers who is the main beneficiary, who is so often finding himself in one-on-one matchups on the outside.

Then to wrap up our Same-Game Parlay we’re taking the most obvious play of the game, Derrick Henry, to score. The Jackson-Henry double act has been a monster this season and the former Titan is truly having a stellar season. He’s now scored nine times in just six games and is averaging over 100 yards per game.
