The Winnipeg Jets have an opportunity to avenge Monday’s 5-2 road loss to the Utah Hockey Club in short order on home ice Friday, January 24.

My top Hockey Club vs. Jets predictions and NHL picks are expecting Winnipeg to do just that at The Canada Life Center, with star netminder Connor Hellebuyck picking up his 30th win of the year.

My Jets analysis

This is a ripe letdown spot for the Utah Hockey Club after blanking the Minnesota Wild on the highway Thursday. The Club will be playing their second road game in consecutive nights Friday, and the Winnipeg Jets have been a force on home ice all season with a 18-5-3 record at the Canada Life Centre.

Of course, the Jets also owe the Club one after Utah topped Winnipeg 5-2 at the Delta Center on Monday.

I don’t anticipate it being a tough ask for Winnipeg.

The Jets have scored the fourth-most goals per game (3.62) while allowing the second-fewest goals on home ice (2.12), and No. 1 goalie Connor Hellebuyck has posted an elite .932 save percentage and 1.81 GAA in front of the Winnipeg faithful.

Utah enters with multiple question marks, too.

To start, No. 1 defenseman Mikhail Sergachev (upper body) is likely to miss his fourth consecutive game, and he paces Utah blueliners in minutes per game (25:45) and also leads the way with a 53.2 CF% at five-on-five.

Add Club backup – and likely starter – Connor Ingram sporting an .862 save percentage and 3.67 GAA across seven road games this season to Utah also missing go-to scorer Dylan Guenther (lower body), and Winnipeg is positioned to build on its home-ice success Friday.

Finally, Utah also sports an unsustainably high 12.7 team shooting percentage with 3.99 goals per 60 minutes despite generating just 2.3 expected goals at 5-on-5 during its three-game winning streak.

The puck luck cools tonight in the ‘Peg.

Jets vs Utah odds analysis

There has been a modest move on the Winnipeg side of this moneyline at Pinnacle, with the Jets opening as -210 chalk and the number at -220 as of Friday morning.

I agree with the move and wouldn’t be surprised to see more action come in on the Winnipeg side leading into puck drop.

While both Utah and Winnipeg have long-standing trends to the Under, there hasn’t been a notable movement to this 5.5 total since opening at Pinnacle.

I personally lean to the Under because of the noted strength of the Winnipeg defense on home ice, in addition to Utah’s highlighted puck luck during its three-game winning streak.
