The league-leading Winnipeg Jets take their 10-game winning streak to the Canadian Tire Centre to face the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday, February 26.

However, Ottawa's defense reaches another level on home ice, and my Senators vs. Jets predictions expect Ottawa to control the tempo for at least the first 20.

Senators vs Jets prediction

My Senators pick
First period Under 1.5 (-102 at Pinnacle)

My Senators analysis
The Ottawa Senators allow the fewest expected goals per 60 minutes at 5-on-5 on home ice, and No. 1 goalie Linus Ullmark is eyeing a bounce-back start after allowing a five spot in just 31:32 to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.

There’s been a lot of hit-and-miss in Ullmark’s game this season. Still, he’s had solid stretches, including going nine straight without losing in regulation while posting a .954 SV% and 1.43 GAA with 4.64 goals saved above average from late November through mid-December.

Of course, Ullmark doesn’t need to morph back into that elite form to help us with this Under, either.

Ottawa is reeling from a four-game losing streak and could be without several key players. Brady Tkachuk (lower body) left practice Tuesday, and Josh Norris is still nursing an upper-body injury. I expect the Sens to batten down the defensive hatches and play a low-risk game to start tonight.

The Winnipeg Jets Vezina Trophy odds, Connor Hellebuyck. He’s posted an elite .926 SV%, 2.04 GAA, 2.18 adjusted GAA, and 0.66 goals saved above average per 60 minutes, while backup Eric Comrie has also been solid with a .923 SV% and 1.99 GAA across his past six starts.

Either Jets starter will do, and I anticipate a low-scoring first period tonight at the Canadian Tire Centre.

Senators vs Jets odds analysis

There has already been an early move to the Winnipeg side of this moneyline at Pinnacle. The shop opened Ottawa at +112, and the Sens are trading at +120 as of Monday morning.

As noted, further line movement in the Winnipeg direction could occur depending on the status of multiple key Sens.

Numerous minor adjustments have been made to this 5.5 total at Pinnacle, but there hasn’t been enough action to move it off the opening number.

I anticipate it sticking at 5.5 because Hellebuyck has been next to automatic, and Ottawa has played to the Under in 45 of its last 84 games (+9.05 Units / 10% ROI).
