We’ve got three games on the NHL Odds slate tonight, including an electric showdown between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena.
Auston Matthews returns to his home rink for the first time in a month, but it’s the Mitch Marner prop market that has my attention when it comes to my Maple Leafs vs. Blackhawks predictions.

My Leafs pick
Mitch Marner Over 2.5 shots on goal (-125 at Sports Interaction)
My Leafs analysis
The Toronto Maple Leafs are coming off an impressive 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning while the Chicago Blackhawks have dropped two straight, including last night's 6-3 loss in Columbus.
It’s a tough task for any team to play the Leafs at Scotiabank Arena this season, as the Buds sport an NHL-best 10 wins on home ice in just 13 games. They average 3.23 goals per game with nearly 30 shots on goal. They’ve also been stingy defensively, giving up an average of just two goals per game at home.
So, with cross-border travel and being on night two of a back-to-back, shutting down Toronto will prove difficult for the Blackhawks.
On top of that, the Leafs have been on a tear, winning eight of their last 10 outings. The star of the show has been Mitch Marner, who has 17 points during this stretch with seven goals on 26 shots.
Marner’s shot prop is set at 2.5, a number he’s cleared in three straight and four of his last five while skating alongside John Tavares. He’s also averaging nearly 22 minutes of ice time over his last five outings, giving him more chances to put pucks on net.
It’s a juicy matchup for Marner, too.
The Blackhawks rank 27th in shots allowed and are giving up an average of 32.6 shots on goal on the road.
Add in that overnight travel across the border, and it could be a sluggish night for the Hawks. They’ve played four back-to-backs this season and have given up an average of 37 shots per game in those matchups
Maple Leafs vs Blackhawks same-game parlay (SGP)
I’m fully backing the Buds and betting them on the puck line.
The Leafs have been dominant on home ice, going 10-3 and covering the puck line in nine of those 10 wins. Toronto is also the better team all around and should roll with Chicago on a back-to-back.
Finally, let’s take the Leafs to score first. Toronto has scored first in 10 of the team’s 14 wins and is 10-1-1 in total when scoring first this season. So it’s always a good bet to pair with a Leafs win.
