Predators vs Avalanche Prediction, Picks & Odds for Monday's NHL Game

When the Avs win, they tend to win big. With the underwhelming Predators coming to town, we like the home side to win by at least a couple of tallies.

The Colorado Avalanche host the Nashville Predators on Monday night at Ball Arena at 9:00 p.m. ET. NHL odds have Colorado as a -150 favorite, while the total sits at 6.5.

After spending the most money in the league this past off-season, Nashville has put together an underwhelming campaign, and my Predators vs. Avalanche predictions believe these woes will continue.

Read on for my NHL picks for Monday, November 11.

Predators vs Avalanche prediction

My best bet
Avalanche -1.5 (+165 at bet365)

My analysis

The Nashville Predators’ biggest issue is their inability to score. They rank 28th in goals scored per game and 30th in shooting percentage.

While the Colorado Avalanche are certainly inconsistent in net, they still do a good job at suppressing high-danger scoring chances as they sit in the top half of the league in xGA/60. At the same time, Colorado possesses one of the best offenses in hockey.

Led by Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, the Avs rank in the Top 10 in xGF/60, goals scored per game, shots on goal per game, and power-play percentage.

MacKinnon and Rantanen are joined on the first line by Artturi Lehkonen. The trio ranks 22nd of the 132 lines to play at least 40 minutes together this season in xGF/60 and is likely to thrive against Nashville’s Filip Forsberg, Ryan O’Reilly, and Steven Stamkos. That line ranks 149th out of the 167 lines to play at least 30 minutes together in goals allowed per 60 minutes.

Zooming out, the only advantage the Preds possess in this matchup is in net. Colorado is the better team both offensively and defensively while also boasting the home-ice advantage.

Finally, I believe there is more value in the Avs’ puck line at +165 than the -150 moneyline. Four of their past six wins have come by at least a two-goal margin, a trend that also reigns true in seven of Nashville’s past nine losses.

Predators vs Avalanche same-game parlay (SGP)

Avalanche -1.5

Nathan MacKinnon anytime goal

Mikko Rantanen anytime goal

There are no better candidates to score for Colorado than MacKinnon and Rantanen, both of whom are in a particularly advantageous position on Monday.

Both MacKinnon and Rantanen scored in the team’s most recent 6-4 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. If they can do that against Carolina, then they can do it against Nashville as well.
