The Philadelphia Phillies lost not only the game on Thursday night but also star sluggers Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber to injury.
The Florida Marlins took Game 1 of the series 7-4, and I’ll target home starter Cristopher Sanchez with tonight’s Marlins vs. Phillies prediction as the City of Brotherly Love looks to bounce back.
Read on for my MLB picks for Friday, June 28th, and see why Sanchez may not rack up the Ks.

My analysis
The Philadelphia Phillies’ starting rotation has been one of their many bright spots this season. Along with known aces Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola, southpaws Ranger Suarez and Cristopher Sanchez have emerged to create a formidable foursome.
Sanchez is 5-3 on the season with a 2.67 ERA across 15 starts. However, he doesn’t usually get it done via the strikeout, as he has just 70 punchouts in 84.1 innings.
The Miami Marlins rank in the top half of the league in strikeouts per game. They may not have the best lineup, but they’re able to put the bat on the ball to avoid racking up too many whiffs. They average just over eight per game and had nine on Thursday night.
Sanchez has gone Under 5.5 strikeouts in each of his last four starts, even with him completing seven innings in the last two outings. Overall, Sanchez has gone Under 5.5 strikeouts in 10 of 15 starts this season.
In fact, the southpaw saw most of his high-strikeout games come early in the season. After going Over 5.5 strikeouts in three of his first four starts, Sanchez has had 6+ Ks in just two of his last 11 games.
Marlins vs Phillies same-game parlay (SGP)
We’re going with an Under theme for tonight’s same-game parlay. Along with Sanchez going Under his strikeout prop, we’re taking the Under 8.5 for the total as well. It’s very likely that at least one of Harper and Schwarber are out tonight — if not longer — and the Phillies already have a few holes in their lineup.
They should still be able to outscore the Marlins, though, so we’re closing out the parlay with the Phillies on the moneyline.
