My analysis
This doesn’t seem like the typical Stephen Curry bet. What about points or threes? Well, there’s a lot of reason to believe the Golden State Warriors superstar will create many opportunities for his teammates in Salt Lake City.
In the first game of the campaign, Steph played 25 minutes, scoring 17 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing out 10 assists. Yes, the Blazers aren’t exactly an elite defensive team, but Curry’s facilitating abilities are an underrated part of his game.
The veteran averaged 5.1 dimes last season and 6.3 the two years before that. Regarding the Utah Jazz, Curry averaged 10 assists against them in 2023-24 in two appearances, and the Jazz allowed the most assists in the NBA last season at 29.8.
At -105, this bet offers a ton of value.

The best thing for Lauri Markkanen’s career was to be traded to the Jazz in 2022 from the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Finnish sharpshooter hit the ground running in the opener as well, erupting for 35 against Ja Morant and Co.
However, the Warriors aren’t a team Markkanen plays well against. In 12 career appearances vs. Golden State, he’s only averaging 16.5 points per night (19.5 last season).
Markkanen is the focal point of this Utah offense and the Dubs will make it their mission to slow him down. Given his history in this matchup, the Under in points feels logical here.
Golden State is enjoying a five-game winning streak vs. Utah dating back to Dec 28, 2022. While most of those contests were decided by single digits, the Warriors covered the spread in every single one.
I know the Warriors are a different team now without Klay Thompson for the first time. However, they’ve won 11 of the last 14 meetings with the Jazz, covering the 2.5-point spread in all but one of the 11 victories.
The spread is likely so close here because of Steph’s minor injury, but the belief is he’ll play.
