The Western Conference Final could conclude tonight as the Edmonton Oilers host the Dallas Stars in Game 6.
My Stars vs. Oilers prediction expects a low-scoring affair, particularly with how well Jake Oettinger has performed between the pipes.

Stars vs Oilers prediction
My best bet
Under 5.5 (-115 at SIA)
My analysis
There have been five or fewer goals scored in three of the first five games of this series, and I expect that trend to continue on Sunday.
We knew what we were going to get with Dallas Stars netminder Jake Oettinger. He was strong in the regular season, posting a 35-14-4 record with a .905 SV% and 2.72 GAA.
His play has further elevated in the postseason, going 10-8 with a commanding .915 SV% and 2.25 GAA. That success is likely to continue against the Edmonton Oilers, a team Oettinger boasts a .925 SV% against over the past six meetings.
There were five or fewer total goals scored in four of those six outings. On the other hand, Edmonton goaltender Stuart Skinner is typically a bigger question mark.
However, Skinner has been particularly dialed in since regaining the starting job at the end of the Vancouver series. He is 5-2 over his past seven starts with a .908 SV% and 1.92 GAA.
Once again going back to the trends, there were five or fewer total goals scored in four of those seven outings.
The blue lines have also performed well this postseason, given that both teams rank in the top five among the 16 playoff teams in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60). Yes, both offenses are also spectacular, but both defenses and netminders should once again be up for the task, especially in a tightly-checked potential elimination game.
Stars vs Oilers same-game parlay (SGP)
While there is not a large correlation between these two plays, it is certainly possible that both come to fruition. Wyatt Johnston has been Dallas’ best offensive player this entire postseason, but he has really turned things up in this series with five points over his four games.
There were four total goals scored in two of those four outings, so it is not unlikely that he records a point while the total remains under 5.5. This postseason, Johnston leads the Stars in goals and co-leads in points.

- Puck line: Dallas +1.5 (-225) | Edmonton -1.5 (+180)
- Moneyline: Dallas +115 | Edmonton -135
- Over/Under: Over 5.5 (-105) | Under 5.5 (-115)
Stars vs Oilers moneyline and Over/Under analysis
- Edmonton opened as a moderate -135 favorite and remains at that price at the time of writing.
- I believe the market will move this line in Edmonton’s direction, given the recency bias of the last game and home-ice advantage.
- The total opened at 5.5 and also remains at that price.
- This number won’t drop to five, but I also think it is highly unlikely that the total goes to six due to all the aforementioned variables.
