Sparks vs Wings Predictions, Picks & Odds for Today’s WNBA Game

While these might just be the two worst teams in the WNBA, there's still a betting edge to be had and we think it lies with the Dallas Wings.

The Los Angeles Sparks are visiting the Dallas Wings on Sunday in a battle of two teams positioned to land the top pick in the WNBA Draft.

The Wings are getting love from the sportsbooks as 6.5-point favorites and our Sparks vs. Wings predictions agree. Find out why in our WNBA picks below.

Sparks vs Wings predictions

My best bet
Wings -5.5 (-108 at FanDuel)

My analysis
The Los Angeles Sparks have dropped six straight and have just two wins in their last 18 appearances. They have the second-worst offense in the league at just 77.8 points per game and have scored 74 points or fewer in four of their last five contests.

The defense isn’t bailing them out either, as they allow the third-most points at 85.4 games per contest. They’ll also be down bodies in this game. On top of the season-ending knee injury to promising rookie Cameron Brink, rotation guards Aari McDonald (foot) and Layshia Clarendon (personal) are day-to-day, while guard Lexie Brown (illness) is already out.

The Dallas Wings are in their own mess, having dropped three straight against WNBA royalty. They were whipped 109-91 by the Sun before taking back-to-back beatings at Barclays at the hands of the league-leading Liberty. Since starting the year 3-2, this team has won just three times in its last 20 games.

Dallas’ offense isn’t elite, but it’s not a slouch, putting up 81.6 points per game, which sits in the top half of the league. The Wings have also gotten a nice spark from the return of 2020 first-round pick Satou Sabally, who just came back after the Olympic break after offseason shoulder surgery. She’s scored 20+ points twice in three games, averaging 18 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.

The problem, however, has been on the other end of the court, where the Wings bleed points to the tune of 90.2 per contest (on a league-worst 46.9% field goal defense). No other WNBA team is near that 90-point mark.

This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two teams this season, with the Sparks currently holding a 2-1 advantage. Dallas, though, seems to have its full roster intact and will be facing a lesser-formed version of the Sparks. Look for the Wings to square up this series.

Sparks vs Wings same-game parlay (SGP)

Wings -6.5

Dearica Hamby Over 15.5 points

Arike Ogunbowale Under 20.5 points

It’s been a rough go of late for Dearica Hamby, who’s fallen out of the league’s Top 10 in scoring. She's posted single-digit scoring numbers in three of her last four outings and has gone Under her 15.5-point scoring line in all five games since the Olympic break.

If there was ever a get-right game, though, it would be against Dallas’ porous defense. She's averaged 22.7 points in three games — while shooting 52.7% from the field — topping her 15.5-point scoring line each time.

We’ll wrap this SGP with Arike Ogunbowale, the No. 3 scorer in the WNBA at 21.9 points per game, but in a slight funk. The Wings guard has fallen Under her 20.5-point line six times in her last eight outings, including a dreadful showing against the Sparks where she shot 2-for-15 from the field for just 12 points.

She's topped this total once in three games against L.A., but her shooting numbers are a disaster, racking up a 19-for-69 from the field, a lowly 27.5% clip. I’ll wager it’s another long afternoon for Ogunbowale.
