We’ve got 15 games on today’s MLB betting slate, including the third and final game of the series between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets at Citi Field.
Toronto hopes to avoid the sweep, but with a slumping offense, the Jays will need a gem from Bowden Francis as I expect runs to be at a premium in today's ball game. Find out why with Blue Jays prediction and MLB picks for April 6.

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Low and slow
Under 8.5 (-150 at BetVictor)
The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to avoid being swept in their first road series of the season as they play the third and final game against the New York Mets at Citi Field.
Both starting pitchers, Bowden Francis for Toronto and David Petersen for New York, ended 2024 on a high note and picked up right where they left off in their first start of the season.
Peterson tossed six innings of two-run baseball in his first outing while striking out nine Miami Marlins batters in a 10-4 win for the Mets. It was a continuation of how well he pitched at the end of last season, as it was the fourth time in his last five starts he surrendered two or fewer runs in a ball game.
Meanwhile, Francis was stellar through six innings in a 5-2 win over the Nationals. That came after being one of the toughest pitchers to face in all of baseball down the stretch last year. However, a lack of offense from both sides also gives me confidence in a low-scoring affair.
Firstly, the total has gone Under the number in both games so far in this series and has cashed in 12 of the 17 games combined between the Jays and Mets this season. Additionally, the Mets are hitting just .191 on the season, ranking 29th in all of Major League Baseball. The contact rate has been low as the team averages just 6.1 hits per game, the third-lowest mark in the league.
If Francis’ splitter gets dancing on the plate the way it did to end last season and at the end of Spring Training, I expect the Mets to continue to have issues at the plate and keep this a low-scoring game. As for New York's pitching staff, it’s been an impressive group early in the season.
Despite a 5-3 record, the team ERA is 2.03, ranking it the second-best group in all of baseball. It’s a staff that has certainly kept Toronto in check this series, only allowing two runs to cross the plate through the first two games.
Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)
Bowden Francis Under 4.5 hits allowed
David Peterson Over 3.5 strikeouts
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases
We’ll stick with the theme of our best bet and fade the offense by taking the Under on Bowden Francis’ hit line of 4.5. The Mets are hitting .191 as a team and have had four or fewer hits against the opposition's starter in all but one game this season. Francis has allowed four hits or fewer in three of his last four starts.
We’ll continue with the pitching props with the Over on David Peterson's strikeout total (3.5). He had nine Ks in his first outing and has gone Over this total in four of his last five starts dating back to last season. I’d also imagine he learned a thing or two while watching his teammates ring up the Jays lineup 11 times.
I’ll bet on one bat today: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He’s gone Over this number in three straight games and four of his last five. Plus, his hard-hit rate is in the 95th percentile in all of MLB. Extra base hits are coming for Vladdy.
