My Brewers vs Yankees best bet: Freddy Peralta Over 5.5 strikeouts (-156 at FanDuel)

My analysis
Milwaukee Brewers’ right-hander Freddy Peralta will look to cement himself as one of the best pitchers in the National League this year. Peralta has finished with an ERA in the 3.00s in each of the past five seasons and is coming off a particularly strong campaign in 2024.

Through 32 starts, the right-hander posted an 11-9 record with a 3.68 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. The primary factor in his success is his ability to retire hitters via the strikeout.

In 2024, Peralta ranked in the 87th percentile in whiff rate and the 81st percentile in strikeout rate. He recorded six or more strikeouts in 16 of his final 25 starts.

That success is likely to continue against the New York Yankees. Through 71 combined career plate appearances against Peralta, this current New York lineup has a 32.4% strikeout rate and 32.2% whiff rate.

Looking at Thursday’s projected starting lineup, six of the Yankees’ nine hitters finished last season in the bottom half of the league in strikeout rate.

Brewers vs Yankees same-game parlay (SGP)

Freddy Peralta Over 5.5 strikeouts

Rhys Hoskins Over 0.5 hits

Brewers moneyline

Milwaukee’s Rhys Hoskins is slated to hit in the cleanup spot on Thursday. He has seen tremendous success against left-hander Carlos Rodón, who is projected to take the mound for New York.

Through nine plate appearances against the southpaw, Hoskins is 3-for-9, including a home run and a double. If we are backing Peralta to record six or more strikeouts and Hoskins to get a hit, then there’s increased value on the Brewers to win this game.

Milwaukee has also won nine of the past 14 meetings between these two teams.
