My analysis
Cristopher Sanchez has emerged as a stud starting pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies this season. The reigning NL pitcher of the month hit a bump in the road in his last start but should see some success back at home tonight.
Sanchez is 6-4 with a 2.96 ERA and 1.24 overall this season, including 5-1 with a 1.35 ERA (9 ER in 60 IP) and 0.90 WHIP at home. He’s allowed fewer than three earned runs in 12 of 17 starts this season and all five of those poor outings came on the road.
It’s also encouraging that Sanchez hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in back-to-back starts. The Cubs tagged him for seven runs through four innings last time out following a complete-game shutout at home to end June.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are also struggling a bit as of late. They’ve scored just three runs total in their last two games and a total of 23 runs in their last six games (3.83 per game). On the season, they’re averaging 5.1 runs per nine innings and 4.9 against left-handed starters.

The Phillies are the best team in baseball at 59-32 (.648 PCT) and even better at home with a 34-14 record (.708 PCT). Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber returned from the IL on Tuesday and the Phillies scored 10 runs without them making much of an impact.
